My mother spent time at Life Care Center of Plainwell, and overall I found it to be better in many ways than many Medicaid-accepting facilities we encountered. There are a lot of wonderful people on the staff who treated my mother with kindness, compassion, and dignity during an incredibly difficult time. For that, I am grateful. That said, I would strongly encourage families to keep a close eye on personal belongings and carefully consider what valuables or sentimental items they allow to remain in residents’ rooms. It seems there may be some sticky fingers going on. Early on, a few dollars disappeared from my mother’s wallet. Later, a sweater I had lent her to wear home from the hospital went missing. Shortly before she died, I bought her coloring books, crayons, and a few other small comfort items, and those disappeared as well. Perhaps the most difficult missing item to deal with came after her death. The one thing I wanted returned was her wallet because it contained old photographs and personal memories, the last little bit of things my mother had and cherished. That wallet was never recovered. I don’t know who was responsible, and I don’t believe these incidents reflect the character of many caring staff members who worked there. However, the repeated disappearances were significant enough that I feel families should be aware and take precautions with personal belongings. I remain appreciative of the many good people who cared for my mother, while also wishing stronger safeguards were in place to protect residents’ possessions and treasured keepsakes.

My sibling is a resident at the facility. The staff is professional, caring, and very understanding. We transferred our love one from another facility in Portage, MI, which I would refer to anyone. We do not have to monitor or supervise the staff at this facility. I like the staff follow doctor orders, adhere to policies and procedure, and involve family im the care for their love ones. During this visit, Crystal and Miranda exemplified outstanding care for our love one. Thank you, Life Care Center 💛
