Lakeland Village

Lakeland Village is a state-operated nursing facility in Medical Lake, Washington that provides 24-hour care for approximately 210 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The facility is certified for 93 nursing facility beds and 190 intermediate care facility beds for individuals with intellectual disabilities and has been in operation since 1914.

The nursing facility provides support through nursing staff, occupational and physical therapy, and recreational activities. The intermediate care facility offers active treatment through habilitation programming in residential, vocational, and recreational therapy, as well as medical and nursing services. Staff includes nursing, attendant counselor, and nursing assistant certified personnel. The facility also provides short-term respite services for eligible individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Residents participate in extensive day programs using sensory integrative and interactive techniques including touch, pressure, massage, aromatherapy, relaxation, music, and movement activities. These programs incorporate electronic and assistive devices designed to reduce sensory defensiveness, anxiety, aggression, and self-injurious behavior while maintaining joint and muscle function.

The facility offers vocational and employment opportunities for residents, including work in an on-campus store, recycling, print shop services, greenhouse operations, and ceramics production, as well as contracted work for community businesses. The facility's purpose is to provide comprehensive, individualized plans of care in personalized home-like environments that promote independence, self-management, and honor human and legal rights. Admission is coordinated through DDA Region 1 Field Services staff with referrals received statewide.
