About Katzman Family Center For Living

Katzman Family Center for Living in Chelsea, Massachusetts is part of Chelsea Jewish Lifecare, a non-profit organization founded over 100 years ago. The community offers memory care and Alzheimer's support, short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, and assisted living services designed to help residents maintain independence while receiving necessary assistance, socialization, and dining services.

Memory care is provided across multiple settings within the organization, including dedicated memory care units, assisted living residences, and an adult day health program. Staff receive specialized training to address the needs of individuals experiencing memory loss and behavioral changes related to brain health. The community emphasizes appropriate activities and stimulation to help residents with memory loss experience greater success and reduce fears associated with cognitive decline.

Short-term rehabilitation services are available for individuals recovering from hospitalization who need additional therapy or medication management, with the goal of returning home. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy can be incorporated into short-term rehab plans. For those requiring permanent extended care, long-term care options include both traditional care and specialized memory care units, which are secured to maintain resident safety when needed.

The Leonard Florence Center for Living, part of this senior living network, dedicates 50 rooms to individuals living with ALS, MS, and those requiring ventilator care. The community recently underwent a $16 million renovation featuring open spaces, natural light, and kitchens on every floor. Beyond residential services, Chelsea Jewish Lifecare provides a VNA program for in-home medical and therapy support and offers end-of-life hospice care.

The organization also operates an adult day health program that provides a safe environment for caregiver respite, participant socialization, and medical support for those not yet ready for full-time residential care.

So happy that my mother is in a very clean and caring community. The staff and the director have been more than understanding to my mother's needs. Its sad to see a loved one suffering from dementia but at least she's in very caring and understanding hands here. Thank you all!

My family member has been at Katzman for about 10 years. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this facility. All staff is warm, loving and professional, and provide excellent care. My family member has never had to wait for physical assistance or a compassionate ear. This includes all staff. Maintenance workers rush to look at a television or phone issue. The cooks ask about alternatives/addiitions they may provide to regular meal menus. Special events are well planned with many musical programs including ice cream socials. Religious services include Catholic masses as well as Jewish celebrations. All are welcomed and included. I have had friends in other skilled facilities and not seen this high level of care and devotion.

I am grateful for the attentive, caring staff and administration at Katzman where my 95 year old mother is a new resident. They are responsive to her needs and keep the building immaculately clean. A comfort to anyone who must entrust a loved one’s wellbeing to others.

The Purim carnival was extraordinary! The singer was sensational. Old and young enjoyed every minute. It was well thought out with beautiful details. ( decorations, popcorn, cotton ,candy , hamantuch , goodie bags , etc. WOW!) My grandsons , my loving close friend, Paula and I had so much fun. The balloon/ makeup artist was truly an “ artist “ I can’t say enough. Happy Purim Thank you , Dawn
