Kaplan Family Hospice House (Care Dimensions)

Kaplan Family Hospice House, operated by Care Dimensions, is a hospice care facility located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Danvers, Massachusetts. It is the first freestanding hospice facility in Massachusetts licensed to provide hospital-level medical care, offering an alternative to hospitalization for patients at the end of life.

The facility provides round-the-clock nursing care for patients with complex pain and symptom management issues, as well as short-term respite stays for Care Dimensions hospice patients whose caregivers need additional support. For most patients, medical care is covered by insurance, though room and board require a separate fee.

The Kaplan House features private suites that overlook landscaped gardens and wetlands, with patient beds that can be wheeled outside. Comfortable common areas include a welcoming kitchen, family rooms, children's play areas, a chapel, and library. Visitors are welcome at any time, and the facility affirms equal visitation rights for all patients and visitors without regard to protected status.

The facility has been in operation since 2005 and serves as a homelike setting where patients and families receive support during end-of-life care. Community volunteers contribute to patient comfort through activities such as creating prayer squares and quilts, and therapy dogs visit patients at the facility.
