I recently stopped by Hoover Senior Living and had the pleasure of meeting Danielle, the Development Coordinator. She was warm, welcoming, and a great representative of the community. I appreciated the opportunity to introduce myself and Homewatch CareGivers, and I look forward to building a strong connection with the Hoover team.<br>– Ambrosha from Homewatch CareGivers

Recently we had to make the tough decision to place our Mom in a skilled nursing facility. We chose Katherine and Charles Hover Green Houses in Longmont because it was close to family and we loved the small home-like environment where only 12 Elders live in each home. It is clean, has an open, modern concept. My Mom loves her room that faces the courtyard that is well groomed, includes a water feature and flowers that she likes to deadhead to keep them looking nice! Mom enjoys reading the Times Call Newspaper and drinking her coffee on the large screened-in porch area which is relaxing and very therapeautic! All the meals are homemade and they post the menu everyday! Mom often talks about how wonderful the meals are from homemade soups, pastries/pies, yummy-flavorful sandwiches and amazing entrees! The entire staff from the Administrator (Shannon), Director of Nursing (Lorilin), Social Services Director(Liz), Registered Dietitian (Julie), Plant Operations (John), Life Enrichment Director (Michael) to the outstanding Shahbazim/CNA's (Jo, Aeysha, Tiffany, Cheyenne, Samantha and too many others to list!) have been so caring, responsive and professional in the care of our Mom. And yes, I know them all by name because they take pride in what they do and they make everyone feel at home, like one big family! Mom is happy, feels safe and is comfortable at Hover Green Houses. Her happiness is apparent as she is reading nearly 3 books a week! I highly recommend Hover Green Houses which is a warm, caring and inclusive community for loved ones!

My mother was moved to Hover Green houses two months before she died. While the concept of a "home" sounds nice - What is "hidden" at first is that the staff - in our situation - was mostly temp workers who were untrained and were also required to cook for the residents. The residents were not encouraged in anyway to help with cooking. The food was not adequate, not well planned and poorly prepared. Residents - some of whom were not able to clearly speak - were required to ask for simple things like yogurt for their cold cereal or a glass of milk. My mother would be given a tiny cup of water to take her 15 morning pills. No one was with her as she took the pills - some of which ended up on the floor - and she never had enough water to safely take them. During her two months at the Hover Green house she lost at least 10 pounds - which she could not afford to lose in her frail state. She had a catheter for which I had to hire additional outside, trained help to manage as the temp workers did not know how to care for it and changed so often, it was impossible to train them all. Her bedding was often soiled. She did not receive showers regularly. Overall the care was simply terrible. After two months and in her weakened state - she was taken to a family member's home to feed her a decent meal. In her weakened state she fell and broke her leg. She died two days later. I would NEVER recommend Hover Green houses.

One of the biggest problems we had while a family member was there - Staff - top to bottom! They bragged about their caregivers ratio to patients but what they didn't tell you was that the caregivers were also responsible for all of the cooking and cleaning inside the home. That didn't leave a lot of time to take care of the "elders" (that's what they call the patients, not residents or patients. And, God forbid, your family member is not an easy, docile patient. They couldn't wait to get rid of our demanding, unruly "elder". I would not recommend to anyone.
