My mother has resided at Horizon House for 3 years. The staff is caring and engaged. She has community, space, care and safety. These things are so important as she ages and while she is still very mobile and sharp as tack, it is so comforting to me to know that she is surrounded by help when she needs it and that they are ready as she starts to need more direct help.

Horizon House has been a good solution for our family. Both my mother-in-law and my father have been residents there. The staff is caring and patient and responsive to our questions.

I feel safe and secure in the care and treatment afforded my mother in the last year. Always greeted by a friendly smile when I walk in the door from Donna. The staff makes not only my mother feel at ease but also myself. Plenty of options for the guests whether it be movies or activities.

Horizon House is a large facility with several beds, three stories, and an entire memory care ward called "the Cottages". Horizon House staff are friendly, competent, and well versed in each client's specific needs and their abilities.<br><br>I would like to highlight one staff in particular, Donna Hill, the face of Horizon House as the front desk operator and phone woman. Donna is often the first voice and face you hear and see when you speak to or visit Horizon House.<br><br>Donna answers the door, works the phones, communicates needs and wants inter-office, and provides high quality support to care coordinators and to residents of Horizon House. Donna provides high quality care, compassion, and problem solving orientation. Donna communicates professionally, timely, and aids care coordinators in all kinds of challenges residents face from time to time.<br><br>Horizon House operates like a very large facility oriented apartment complex. There is a communal cafeteria where residents congregate 3 times daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Residents may also take their meals to their rooms, though the communal area is encouraged for more social time and to build connections.<br><br>Residents of Horizon House always appear clean, fed, and healthy. I almost never hear any complaints, and when I do overhear a complaint, I find that the problem is tended to swiftly and promptly.<br><br>Horizon House staff are respectful, knowledgeable, and quick to respond to changing needs and problems in the home.<br><br>While Horizon House operates more like an apartment complex for the elderly and the disabled, I feel that Horizon House is one large communal home. The apartments are simply tiny homes in a bigger communal network. Residents socialize frequently amongst themselves, there is a chapel inside the building to practice faith, and the home is welcoming of all walks, and all faiths.<br><br>Horizon House offers spacious rooms, good food, dietary appropriate meals, entertainment via television in each room, and communal activities amongst the residents, as well as religious activities such as communal singing or group study sessions.<br><br>I have personally seen several kinds of religious figures enter the building to perform faith based practices, such as end of life preparations.<br><br>The community of Horizon House is very diverse. There are people from all kinds of racial backgrounds, and all kinds of work backgrounds. You might find a retired electrician chatting with a business supervisor, or a banker playing Bingo with a cross country skier.<br><br>Tl;dr:<br>Horizon House is friendly, highly adept at caring for the elderly and the disabled, and Donna Hill is typically the first point of contact for most people. Donna is an exceptional individual and performs great work for Horizon House. Horizon House is a diverse home.

This is actually Janet’s daughter (I don’t have access to my pass word right nowand I don’t want to change it). Anyway, my mom has been at Horizon House for almost a year and she is very happy! She is a very social person and there are numerous daily activities she can participate in as well as activities such as “Senior Prom”; “Luau” and other such events where family are invited. I’ve attended several of these events as well as craft club, game day, utopia wheel of fortune, and ceramics. Thy also have exercise class, Sunday services, and these are just a few of the events. There is no lack of things to do either in a social setting or alone. They have a library and a room to work on puzzles. And the food!!! I told my mom to tell the chef he’s never allowed to retire and the facility is not allowed to accept his resignation, he is that good! The staff is awesome, the CNA’s, the ladies that help in the kitchen, the ladies who greet you when you come in and the cleaning staff, they are all exceptional! I visit my mom so much, I’ve made friends with some of the other residents and I look forward to seeing them along with my mom when I visit.
