Personal Care
Supportive Services for Residents in Apartments: Enhancing Independence and Dignity
Unlike any other retirement community in Lancaster County or its surrounding areas, at Homestead Village, we’re licensed to provide residents with personal senior care services for short or long-term periods right in their apartments through the Supportive Services program.
This unique program allows residents to thrive where they are and not have to relocate or downsize to another part of campus if they need personal care. These senior living options also mean that couples can stay together in their apartment, even if only one person requires care.
Services include:
• Three meals daily in our dining room
• Bed making/linen changes
• Weekly housekeeping
And one or more of the following services:
• Wheelchair transports
• Light daily housekeeping
• Medication management
• Laundry
• Hygiene assistance
• Continence management reminders
• Appointment scheduling
• Shopping
• Periodic checking—seven days a week through the 24-hour period
• Health management
Because support needs vary from person to person, we design an individualized support plan for each participant, with input from the resident, family, and staff. As the resident’s needs change, we revise the support plan in consultation with an interdisciplinary team. If the resident regains independence and can complete daily living activities, we’ll discontinue the support plan once the minimum contract period is complete.

Skilled Nursing
A Person-centered, Home-like Experience
Skilled nursing care at Homestead Village is provided in the Apostles Center for Care (ACC), a fully accredited, Medicare- and Medicaid-approved nursing center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Our services include Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and long-term care. Homestead Village is a great choice for post-surgery rehabilitation, and serves both the residents of our CCRC and the greater community.
Our goal is to provide the highest-quality 24-hour nursing care available in Pennsylvania and beyond. Our skilled nursing care staff seeks to create a warm environment within our comprehensive retirement community that is suited to helping each resident achieve maximum independence. The Apostles Center is equipped to accommodate a wide range of health care needs.
About Our Daily Rates
The daily rate within our ACC nursing center includes 24-hour nursing care, three nutritious meals, life enrichment opportunities, housekeeping, and laundry service. Meals are made-to-order, and the dining services department is qualified to meet many special dietary requirements. Private and semi-private rooms are available. Each room is equipped with a European-style shower, wardrobes, cable television, and optional phone service.
The Apostles Center for Care at Homestead Village has provided quality, skilled nursing care in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania, community since 1986. The professional staff offers comprehensive medical services, nursing and rehabilitation and restorative senior care programs. An interdisciplinary care team provides continual assessments of individual needs for a smooth transition from skilled nursing center care to home.
The Household Approach
The 60-bed Apostles Center is made up of three households, each accommodating 15 to 22 residents. Our households differ from a traditional nursing home or senior care facility in a number of ways:
• Household staff members work together as a team to meet the needs of residents.
• Each household team is charged with working together efficiently, with a high degree of trust to provide the highest-quality, most home-like senior Team members are trained to work through communication and conflict issues.
• Household staff members work in blended roles and assist with housekeeping, laundry, and dining service. The team is not solely responsible for these tasks but works cooperatively with these service areas in order to provide the best possible service and resident-centered care.
• Each household features a lounge where residents and visitors gather, senior living group activities take place, care planning meetings are held, and household staff performs duties, such as nursing and rehabilitation documentation and shift-to-shift reporting.
• One household is specifically dedicated to residents in need of secure Memory Support.
Memory Support
Memory Support Households – Gelhard House & Harvest House
Located on the first and second floors of the Westvue Building, respectively, Gelhard House and our newest neighborhood home, Harvest House, provide secure and high-quality memory support services in a Personal Care setting.
Gelhard House features 13 private studios of varying sizes and designs. Each room has its own private bathroom with shower. The central living space in the Gelhard House has a lovely living room, sunroom, parlor, dining room, and country kitchen.
Harvest House also features 13 private studios of varying sizes and designs, including oversized units to accommodate couples. Each room has its own private bathroom with shower. The central living space features an inviting living room, sunroom, and country kitchen dining area.
Harvest and Gelhard Houses share a secure ground-level courtyard, which is a favorite gathering place for residents who enjoy gardening, outdoor conversations, or group activities.
Homestead Village is honored to provide resources and serve residents and families during the difficult journey of memory loss. In addition to caring and compassionate Personal Care assistance, special services of Harvest and Gelhard Houses include planned on- and off-campus activities adapted for memory support residents, “music and memory” program certification, pet therapy, and complimentary transportation to medical appointments within a 5-mile radius of Homestead Village.
