My mom was a resident at the Wilton location of Home of the Good Shepherd. She was very well cared for by the staff there. I lived very close by, so this is not a review from a far away family member who didn’t know what was going on. I saw a lot of my mom and the staff there over a 3 yr and 5 month period. The staff genuinely care about all of the residents. They are very responsive to family members questions.

Home of the Good Shepherd (HOGS) in Wilton was my first experience with assisted living. At 96, my mother’s age had started to catch up with her. Up till then, she was in independent living and was self-sufficient.

We needed to transition to assisted living and HOGS Wilton made the most sense. Reasonable prices, very knowledgeable and accommodating staff. We were able to move
Mom in very quickly once the decision was made, which was a relief.

The staff immediately encouraged my mother to get out and meet people, mainly by going to the dining hall for meals. Unfortunately, my mother’s health continued to decline rapidly and she never got to meet any other residents.

Caring for my mother when she was in decline was where the very compassionate staff really shined. I cannot say enough about all they did for my mother.

After being at HOGS Wilton for less than 3 weeks, my mother was enrolled in Hospice care with Community Hospice. Similar to my exposure to assisted living, this was my first experience with Hospice care.

I did not know who did what and how this all worked. Turns out I had nothing to worry about. HOGS and Hospice work together all the time and it showed. Nothing was more important than my mother’s comfort. My mother was in Hospice care for 10 days before she passed peacefully in her sleep. I will be eternally grateful for HOGS Wilton and their seamless integration with Community Hospice.

In closing, all the HOGS Wilton staff are wonderful and I thank them for all they did. In particular, I wish to extend my eternal gratitude to the nurses who manage care for residents. They always answered my questions, even if I asked them twice, and I always felt better after talking with them.

I recommend HOGS in general, and Wilton branch in particular, when co-workers with aging parents are investigating care options.

My mother has lived at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Wilton for the past 3 years and I am happy to call this her home. Each and every staff member is kind, compassionate and caring - they are true professionals. Starting with the administrative team led by RN Lindsey (who does an outstanding job at overseeing everything at the facility), I have the utmost respect and appreciation for the admin staff, med room staff, activities leader, transportation director, maintenance staff, kitchen/dining room staff, and the fabulous care staff - they all work together to make this feel like home. My mom requires a lot of care and they are always there for her with a smile and a kind word - they make sure all her needs are met while letting her keep her sense of dignity. I highly recommend this facility and am so grateful for all they have done for my mom. They are the best and I consider them part of our family!

My mother has been at the Home of the Good Shepherd for over a year. The staff has been great to work with and has been attentive to the needs of my mother. The staff displays empathy, attentiveness and supportiveness. They actively communicate with family members regarding any matters at hand.

The staff at Home of the Good Shepherd – Wilton has cared for my 97-year-old father for 6 years (since 2019). Their skilled and compassionate care is the only reason Dad is still alive after many health scares, especially because the rest of his family is out of state. Earlier this year, Dad had complications after several falls, and it wasn’t certain he could stay in assisted living. Director Lindsey worked with the visiting nurse practitioner, nurse Trisha and me to get Dad back to his previous state of health. It’s nothing short of a miracle that he has resumed his normal activities, including walking, under their care. I give the HOGS-Wilton staff my highest recommendation for their medical knowledge, patience and tireless work. Thanks so much for always looking forward and never giving up, no matter how tough things get.
