Our parents have been residents at Highlands for the past eight months, and we are very grateful for the care and kindness they have received during that time.

From the beginning, what has stood out to me the most is the kindness, compassion, and genuine caring of the staff. They treat our parents with respect and patience, and it is clear that they see them as individuals—not simply as residents. Knowing that they are surrounded by people who truly care about their well-being has given me a tremendous peace of mind.

Due to the fact that I work 60-70 hours per week about an hour away, I can generally only get to Highlands once per week, but I would love to name a few people I have met, but this in no way covers the gratitude I have for the entire staff. My father speaks so highly of the women who run the dining room. He says they know every resident by name and "move like greased lightning."

For those I have personally met, I am so grateful to Jane for her sense of humor with my parents, always making them laugh and making them feel happy. Tanya goes above and beyond. She has the patience of a saint and is so kind. Chris also is so warm, friendly, funny, and seems to get the job done quickly yet without rushing them. Finally, another shout-out to Nataly, her warmth and gentleness will never be forgotten. These, along with many other I have not met but hear about, make Highlands a truly caring community.

Leaving your parents in someone else’s care is never an easy decision. For our family, however, knowing they are in a place where they are treated with dignity, warmth, and compassion has made all the difference. Long ago, I worked in a nursing home, and I was appalled at the treatment of the residents. I am so grateful that Highlands truly cares and treats people with the respect they deserve.

After eight months, we can honestly say that we are thankful we chose Highlands. We appreciate the entire staff and the care they provide every day. Their kindness has meant more to our family than they probably realize.
