This facility was recommended by a hospital; however, after conducting research and reviewing the feedback from the Department of Health & Human Services Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, I discovered that one of their residents was left unattended in his/her room during both the morning and afternoon hours. The resident care kardex plan indicates that the resident is to be monitored due to poor eyesight and forgetfulness associated with dementia. This situation suggests that the patient's dignity was compromised and that the facility failed to adhere to state laws designed to protect the patient. Furthermore, the patient was seen eating his meal with a comb. This also raises concerns about whether the facility enforces strict safety standards that their employees should follow, as they should be held accountable for their negligence in providing care and ensuring the safety of the patient. How many more incidents must occur before appropriate safety protocols are implemented and patients are adequately protected and cared for in a safe manner? I will not be admitting my mother to this facility.
