After suffering a stroke my husband spend 3 and a half weeks at Johnson rehab. I can't say enough about this experience.Tbe staff were all amazing . He was treated with utmost dignity and respect . The nurses, therapist and Drs were so wonderful and caring I am so gratefull to each one of them. Thank you for taking such great care of my husband God Bless each one of you

My name is Marie Costello, and I was in the ER in bed H26 and my nurse was Toni ! She was absolutely amazing! All the nurses were very nice but I must say that Toni was the BEST NURSE IVE EVER HAD in the Emergency Department. She told me things like , “ if I don’t advocate for myself nobody will.” I didn’t even have to ask for any meds she kept such a close eye on me that just brought me exactly what I needed without me having to ask. This hospital is, overall, in my opinion the very Best ! Toni , I told you I would this and I truly appreciate everything you did.

I spent a week here. It was dismal and depressing. Nurses are overworked with too many the patients. Some nurses were very nice and helpful and others were nasty and degrading. Pain was always an issue. If you called for your OXY when they were due, it would take an hour for tech to come in to find out what you want and if you are lucky, the nurse would come in an hour later to give you your pain pill. There were a couple days where they said they had no OXY 10s (they had OXY 5s) and did not give me 2 OXYs? Do they have a drug problem there? I was having heart failure and my sister talked to everyone to get me to the hospital and it took over 8 hours for them to release me to the hospital. They said that I needed to speak with my nurse to let me go to the hospital. If the director of nursing couldn't release me, why would I think I needed my nurse's permission. If you love the person going here, have them go to a good place. They didn't post any pictures of the real place, the pictures are of some nice place. Once back at Ocean medical I refused to go back there and spent the next two weeks at Johnson rehab and it was WONDERFUL.

I personally stayed at this facility in June 2018 for 9 days and Yes I would recommend. I am a 51 yr old female who was recovering from a 2 week hospital stay (major illness) and cardiac window operation. I needed PT b/c my legs were extremely weak from laying in the hospital bed for so long and I could barely walk... I also needed wound care for the healing incision on my chest... With that said... I personally liked this facility. The nurses were kind and attentive. I had NO complaints regarding the staff. The place was clean & food was very good ( choose from daily menu). It is a sub acute facility and I received 1-hour PT and 1-hour OT per day (6 days a week) along with daily cleansing and dressing changes for my wound. I also stayed at Meridian Sub Acute Rehab in Wall (a month earlier for 11 days) and there too was nice however I preferred this place b/c of the front lounge and outdoor courtyard which I used daily to break up the boredom of being in the facility while getting therapy and when visitors came to see me, we went outside in the courtyard. Please remember... you MUST have a family member be present often at ANY facility if a loved one is staying there and IF they can not speak up for themselves. I am young as compared to others that were there and I had no issues speaking up for myself and asking for things. I was able to use a walker to go use the bathroom so I didn’t have to call a nurse to help me each time nor wait (after they ok’d me to be able to get up by myself). Safety and cleanliness was a priority at this facility I felt. So for someone looking for a facility for short term recovering from illness, operation (knee or hip replacement, etc...) or a hospital stay I would hands down recommend this facility...

Disclosure: I have 10 years of experience in the medical field, including, but not limited to nursing homes. I was optimistic knowing this was a "Meridian" facility, since I'm impressed by their hospitals and other facilities. However, I'm greatly disappointed in what I've seen so far. My husband has only been there a few days and I'm already beyond myself with everything. Some staff seem very professional and efficient and I feel safe knowing he's in their care. I do like that they're on campus of the hospital, so if there's a problem he's close to the emergency room (cancer patient on some heavy duty treatment). Their meals for patients are really decent and enjoyable, and very reasonable for guest trays. However my positive outlook ends there, and I will be contacting someone in administration (not at the facility) when he's no longer in their care, which will be as brief as within my power. If you have a loved one that can not speak for themselves and this is your only option my advice would be to keep a close watch on them, and be their advocate. They need you now more than ever. One thing that was especially alarming was his roommate pressed the nurse button to use the restroom and 20 minutes later I went to find someone to help the poor man who couldn't walk solidly one his own. They're severely understaffed considering the care they're responsible for providing. The staff members that are the greatest assets are way overworked. The other ones are clearly only there for a paycheck and have no compassion for their patients.
