My mother had a second stroke and was placed here because she lives with my grandmother who can’t do the things needed for her care. I live in another state. I know she can be stubborn and is frustrated with life because she was recovering from her first stroke and finally able to get around. When I first arrived shortly after she was admitted there was a lot of communication issues. She can’t talk clearly and is paralyzed now fully. Her call button kept being moved to where she couldn’t roll her hand onto it when she needed something. She told us about a nurse she was afraid of. I realize medical staff everywhere go through a lot but no patient should ever be mistreated or abandoned. There are several nurses here that are helpful and understood us when we expressed our concerns. Unfortunately staff rotates and I can’t be here to make sure they all understand. How would you feel if you were in her position?<br>I think there are good nurses here like our favorite Susan, and if your family member is not as immobile as ours things might be smoother. If the nurses had more help and were less stressed themselves it might be better.
