My mom lived in the memory care unit (locked Dementia unit) for the past 5 1/2 years and the care was phenomenal. She was not able to walk and relied on a wheelchair and the staff had to assist with all ADLs such as bathing, dressing, eating, etc. They did such a good job that she never had any skin problems or bed sores. It’s a tough work environment but in spite of this the staff were always very caring and supportive and kept us informed whenever there was an issue or need for an ER visit.<br>The unit included appropriate activities for memory impairment and it was always warm and welcoming with pretty seasonal decorations. It is apparent that the facility and staff really care about the residents.<br>The memory care unit is considered Assisted Living which is far less expensive than nursing home level of care. Also, the unit is small enough that it feels more like home and less like an institution. In the end my mom became very frail from her Dementia and required hospice. She was kept on the unit with hospice care which meant that she did not have to move to another facility and could stay in the environment she knew well. Every aspect of her care over 5 1/2 years was well coordinated and could not have been better. As a family we will forever be grateful to Gull Creek and highly recommend them!
