My 99-year-old mother stayed at The Guilford House for short-term rehabilitation and had a truly wonderful experience. When she first arrived, she was unable to walk. Thanks to the incredible therapists — who were patient, encouraging, and so very kind — she left walking with the assistance of a walker. We were beyond grateful for her progress. During her second stay, my mother was much more fragile, suffering from fractured vertebrae and in a declining state. Once again, the staff at The Guilford House could not have been more compassionate, attentive, and caring. They didn’t just provide medical care — they treated her with warmth and humanity. They would hug her, joke with her, and make her feel valued and loved. This was not her first rehabilitation facility, and I can honestly say The Guilford House is far superior to others on the shoreline. The facility is very clean, and the food is excellent as well. What moved me most — and prompted me to write this review — was what happened at the end of her life. I received a call from a nurse telling me I should come immediately. There was 14 inches of snow on the ground, and I’m sure she could hear the panic in my voice. An employee selflessly volunteered to drive and pick me up, braving the snow and icy roads so I could be there. When I arrived, a staff member was sitting beside my mother, holding her hand as she was transitioning. Because of their extraordinary compassion and willingness to go above and beyond, I was able to be with my mother when she peacefully crossed over. The Guilford House gave me the greatest gift a daughter could receive in that moment. I will be forever thankful to the remarkable, caring staff for their kindness, professionalism, and humanity.

Currently my husband is a temporary resident here. Everyone has been excellent. The staff is so caring. This is the first rehab he has been in (#4) that has amazing food. He looks forward to the weekly menu. Thanks Guilford House!!

A family member recently had a 3 week short term rehab stay at The Guilford House . Having excellent physical therapy for strength and balance was sorely needed and the team exceeded our expectations! Kathy was his daily PT “angel” who was equally tough and knowledgeable as well as caring and patient. The nurses and aides were warm, approachable, caring , very kind and thoughtful . Chef Jeff checked in with him regularly…and while every meal wasn't a favorite - he was pleasantly surprised and truly very happy with the quality of the meals and the selections! Great PT , good food and caring nurses and aides - it was just what he needed! 😃 I rarely write a review but was so pleased with the whole team there I just had to take the time to share in hopes of perhaps helping another family who may need rehab in the future. Administrator Nathan Moffie and his team ( sorry I don’t remember all of their names ! ) but all are really dedicated to their patients and it was a blessing that my family member was at The Guilford House! Thank you so much! 😃

I can’t express enough how grateful I am for the exceptional care and compassion shown to my loved one at The Guilford House. From the moment we walked through the doors, it was clear that the staff was not only highly professional but genuinely caring. They went above and beyond to ensure my loved one felt safe, respected, and supported throughout the entire recovery process. Every nurse, therapist, and even doctor took the time to get to know my loved one’s specific needs and treated them with the utmost kindness and dignity. The level of personalized care was incredible, and it truly made a difference in their recovery. The team was always available to answer questions, offer reassurance, and provide guidance. It was clear that they were invested in my loved one's well-being, not just as a patient, but as a person. What stood out most was the compassion. The environment was warm, welcoming, and full of positivity, which helped my loved one stay motivated during some tough moments. The therapists were not only experts in their field but also incredibly patient and encouraging, ensuring that every step of the journey felt manageable. Thanks to the outstanding care at The Guilford House, my loved one has made significant progress, and we are forever grateful. If you are looking for a rehab facility where your loved one will receive the highest level of care, respect, and compassion, I cannot recommend this place enough. It’s truly a place where healing happens—not just physically, but emotionally as well. Thank you for your kindness start to finish.

My mom, Barbara Jean, lived at The Guilford House her last 3.5 years and passed while there a week ago. As heartbroken we were we cannot say enough about the loving care she received from all her caregivers. She felt safe, well cared for and made many friends (with the staff as she liked to stay in her room). Mom had a good sense of humor and always tried to have fun and was was appreciative and thankful always. I thank the staff very much for their loving care. I cannot thank them enough, especially Laura, the nurse whom was her nurse from first entertaining for short term rehab until her death, hugging her and letting Barb know she was very loved
