Sequoia took excellent care of my mother for a short respite stay. Everyone was very kind and worked to make her comfortable and included. The residents were also amazingly friendly and welcoming. Several stopped by to introduce themselves and chat on her first day; I loved that. The room was cozy and had everything she could need. The shared area had a huge tv and lots of comfy seating. The facilities were always clean and it was very easy to drop in to visit (and I stopped by a lot). She was there during the holiday season and they even had a friends and family holiday party which was a really nice activity. Fingers crossed she stays healthy but I would love for her to be able to stay at Sequoia again if the need arises.

Very beautifully renovated and modern homes! The staff are professional, pleasant to talk with and attentive as well. Better than the larger, commercial facilities, I have seen. I fully recommend their homes for anyone looking for care for their parents and family members. Their local and easy to access from the highways

Sequoia Senior Care, in Columbia, MD, was a gift from God for my now deceased sister and for me. My sister’s life crumbled in January 2022 due to late-stage Parkinson’s disease. While her physical symptoms were typical (balance and other muscle control issues and many falls), her psychological symptoms were off the charts – crippling anxiety, severe hallucinating, dementia, depression, … She moved into assisting living in August 2022 but was asked to leave the first place in July of 2023 because they could not handle her psychological issues, which were also causing rapid physical decline. A month after fracturing her leg (from a fall) at the second location, I was told that she had to leave that facility, because they could no longer keep her safe – multiple falls from trying to walk with a broken leg. Sequoia was the only assisted living facility willing to accept my sister. All others declined due to her fragile physical condition and substantial psychological issues. Sequoia was certain that they could give my sister a safe, peaceful, and loving environment, which they did well beyond my expectations. My sister moved to Sequoia at the end of January 2024 and resided there just less than four months before succumbing to her late-stage Parkinson’s Disease. Sequoia was the perfect place. My sister had many very difficult days, but she always felt safe and loved and cared for. She frequently expressed her gratitude for being in such a peaceful, homey environment surrounded by an attentive, loving, and caring staff (and manager and owners). Since I lived 200 miles away and traveled back-and-forth, it was also very important to me to have a staff and management that communicated and worked with me to resolve issues that arose and adapted to give Joan the best care and the best quality-of-life that they could, despite all of the challenges that she added to their daily lives. I can never thank all of them enough for the love and support during an extremely difficult time for us and for giving my sister what I believe was the best final four months of life that was possible for her.

We were lucky to find Sequoia Senior Care for my mother. The house has 4 rooms upstairs and 4 rooms downstairs for residents. It's situated in a truly residential neighborhood, near single family homes, an elementary school and swim club (not that the residents need such things). The furnishings inside the house are homey, so the overall interior and exterior of the place feel WAY less institutional than other assisted care facilities we looked at. On more than one occasion, I showed up unannounced during visiting hours, and mom's seemed fine, clean. They have a shower schedule for her. If mom asks for a haircut or needs dental care, they find professionals to make house calls (although these services cost extra, which we pay for). They try to do fun crafts activities to engage residents. The caregivers know that we have a Wyze camera in Mom's room that records, so we can replay what happened or caused her to fall if incidents happen during the middle of the night (eg, her rolling walker slipped on the way to the bathroom). The Assisted Living Manager is very responsive when we text with questions or requests. The caregivers that mom's had over time vary from conscientious to acceptable. My mom is untalkative and if (very big IF) she cooperates with her care at all, it's grudgingly so. Sequoia has succeeded where I could not.
