My mom has been independent her whole life but as she's been getting older we knew she needed to move into an apartment with some assistance available. We searched in all over the Brainerd area and finally found Woodland Good Samaritan. The staff at Woodland has been so kind and friendly, especially Becky who is the Senior Living Sales Specialist. From the moment my mom met Becky, she has gone above and beyond to make her feel welcome. I've had to call a few times for a welfare check on my mom and the staff immediately went to her apartment to check on her. They were helpful, caring and called me back right away to let me know things were fine. My mom enjoys the exercise classes 3 times a week, other scheduled activities and Catholic mass that is offered. Her apartment is the perfect size and the hallways are great for her walks and to see other residents. If you are looking for an independent or assisted living facility in the Brainerd Lakes area, go visit Woodland Good Samaritan and ask for Becky.

The staff was rude.my family member had an office worker call me because she couldn't stop crying. The worker told my family member to "shut up, She picked up," thinking I hadn't hear it. My family member decided to sign out and the staff was making bets outside her room. Betting if she was going to make it or not like her recovery/life was a game. I have waited months to finally say yes, she did make it.she was taking care of herself within 4 days of leaving. Showering on her own after 7days and starting to walk short distances in 2 months. As someone who used to work in healthcare, I would have never talked about or to someone like that even if I was frustrated with the resident they are still a person and paying you for a service. The worst part was no one tried to hide it. There was only one aide that cared and was polite. I highly urge people to really check where you have loved ones staying.

The excellent staff at GS Woodlands has provided the best care for my parents. COVID regulations have been difficult for the elderly and they do their best to keep things positive. They pop in to the apartment to chat, bring surprises such as root beer floats, and do tasks several times each day to help counteract this time of isolation and physical distancing. Thank you to all of the staff at Good Samaritan Woodland.

Had parent living there. High turnover of staff, both assistants and RNs. Difficult to get feedback from staff. High costs for services and little flexibility. Questionable upkeep for facilities. Had elevator problems for months and when asked about fixing, was told the fix was expensive and would take time. Fire dept had to be called to get people out of stuck elevator at least once. When moved out, they wanted to keep full deposit for light rug stains on linoleum floor.
