My parents lived there for awhile. My dad had many complaints about the care they received. I shared Thanksgiving with them there once. The portions were tiny and no seconds were available. I have since learned that that normal. My parents have both passed now, but, thank God the place has now been shut down by order of the state of Minnesota.

My mom and Dad stayed at care free for less than a year and the care they received was almost nonexistent!! My mom was recovering from a broken hip and was left no choice but to wet herself because ringing for a caregiver ment at least a hour if they showed up at all !! She was not given her medication for days at a time because they wouldn’t order it , and anybody who would work there from a temp service was able to pass out pills ! My mom passed away while staying there and in our whole families opinion it was very preventable!! I wouldn’t let these folks watch my dog!! 👎👎

My mother lived at Carefree Living on Oak Street in Brainerd for a year. It was a nightmare from the begining. They never would order her medicine until she was completely out and would be made that go days without her medication regularly. She was given other people's medicine on a regular basis as well. On an occasion 2024 she needed an ambulance and they refused to call one for her. I called emergency services to get an Ambulance there myself. The staff did not informed the residents that they had bed bugs until the entire place was infested with them. I witnessed them throwing one womens things away leaving her with nothing and treats by her very poorly before replacing her clothing and furniture. The high turn over of staff made it impossible for any consistent cares to be given. She was forced to only get one bath a week when we insisted that she was in need of at least 2 per week upon entering the facility because of her medical issues. We were assured that wouldn't be a problem. My mother was yelled at regularly by the nursing staff for sharing with me her struggles at carefree living. She would have to deal with repercussions each time she did share. I can not express enough or how tragic it is to have any loved one in this facility for any length of time. I was overjoyed on the day I got to move her out of Carefree Living! There were so many neglectful moments in her state the I have reported it to the state and dealing with the ombudsman. They will have to answer to someone for why she was treated so poorly.

The facility is very dirty and the smell in the building makes you sick to your stomach. I would not allow my loved ones to go there.

I lived here from 2021 to 2022 and I had a few issues with 1 other resident who was well they remember I appreciate the fact I got the opportunity to stay here I was able to turn my life around and realize I am going to be ok part of me wishing I never left because of all the good people I met and played cards and games with and jasper would have loved the chance to say goodbye to everyone before he had to move on in his working as a service dog and my dog Jackiechan and the little puppy Java you guys were so welcoming now I have a girl named jazzy. I just wanted to say when everything started go well I felt like family one of these days my vehicle will be fixed so I can come by for game day or something I miss you all
