Our loved one went to Good Sam in Olathe for their last 2 months of life as their health deteriorated. After spending time in another rehab/SNF facility in KC, we felt truly blessed for the care he received at Good Sam. The level of care and compassion was far superior to the other facility and I believe the main reason was all employees are longer tenured, W-2 employees. Good Sam uses no contractors/no temp agencies and in our opinion, that should be the #1 question people ask when looking for a facility for a loved one. Forget the facility aesthetics, ask if there are any contract workers/agency workers and ask about the nurse retention statistics. At Good Sam, all employees from admissions to social services to nurses to care assistants were all personable and great to work with. Having consistent caregivers in healthcare is important and Good Sam in Olathe was super consistent. We give special recognition to the main day shift nurse Renee who went above and beyond the job description to care for our loved one and to provide consistent communication to us. Navigating our loved ones healthcare issues over the past 5 months has proven frustrating. Good Sam renewed some faith in the healthcare setting with the care they provided our loved one during his last stint in life.
