This is the very first post I have ever written on any platform, but I felt compelled to share my 5-star experience with this facility. I have been an RN for 31 years and spent 25 in home health. I have spent many hours in most every assisted living facility in the Columbia area, and Generations of Irmo rates top in all aspects. We had several facilities to visit when we were looking for my mother-in-law. Generations of Irmo was our first facility to see and we never visited another after our tour there. The atmosphere is homey and welcoming, from the loveliness of the buildings, to the staff's professionalism and total dedication they provide to the residents. The owner, David, and his son, Justin, are always on hand and exceptionally knowledgeable in geriatric care. They both helped tremendously in the transition of moving my mother-in-law from another state to her new home. There is a feeling of family in the atmosphere and workings of the facility. (In fact, David's own mother and father reside there.) The staff interacts with hugs, smiles, and genuine concern for their well-being. They know each resident like family and are quick with an update on their day, or in communicating any changes in their condition. Administration and staff seem to go the extra mile most any day, but they are really there for you when your loved one is going through a decline of any kind by keeping all staff abreast of any changes, working with the family, with home health, the doctor, or the pharmacy to assist in a resident's overall care. I could say so much about the facility itself. It's a decorated celebration of whatever season is current. It is clean, with none of the typical odors that would normally be associated with this type of facility. The food and the team that prepares and serves is excellent. The rooms are the largest I've seen in any facility. There are daily activities and celebrations in which the residents can participate. My mother-in-law has been a resident for over a year now and we feel she couldn't be in safer, more competent, more caring hands. We are so lucky to be a part of the Generations of Irmo family! Sincerely, Meredith Knowles

The staff is loving and caring, and they always answer questions, give updates, and let us know if there are any concerns. Management has been responsive and helpful if we have questions. My mom has felt loved and appreciated there -- she always says everyone is great. I am thankful for the Generations team.

My mother has been a resident of Generations of Irmo since December 2018. While living in the assisted living part of the facility, she enjoyed the many opportunities for socializing with friends, special programs. and activities. During times when Mother was sick and needed extra care, the staff arranged (often with very little notice) for one-on-one sitters for her while she recovered. Mother was transferred to the Memory Care Unit in September 2022. One of the things i appreciate so much is the low patient to staff ratio. It is obvious that staff members really “know” our Mother well, and Mother always talks about how much she enjoys living in her “house” with her friends. It is obvious that she feels at home there. Any concerns we have ever had have been addressed in a timely manner with follow-up by management or staff. I am so happy that Mother is in a place where I feel she is safe, cared for, and loved. I recommend this facility without hesitation. Dr. Sandy Brossard

Generations of Irmo is an excellent facility. My father has been there for two years and is very happy there. When I visit him, I always see a clean room and friendly staff. They have activities scheduled every week and dad eats his meals in the dining room. I am pleased with my father’s care at Generations of Irmo.
