My mother was not kept clean, at my visits she smelled bad, staff would gather in one room and watch tv, mother developed bed sores that became painful. Yes, I reported it! The bed sores calcified on her lower back area. We made pictures.

So, day 1, has been a disaster. My mother gets over there for Rehab and they put her in a room next to someone that is apparently hard of hearing and blasts the TV at full volume. This person watched old westerns all night long with the volume at full blast. The answer was to tell my mother to ask to be moved to a different room. But that wasn't even the worst part. My mother went all night long without any pain meds and their excuse is there wasn't a pain management plan made. How is this a thing? That should have been one of the first things done BEFORE the patient even gets there. Epic fail!

My mother was at this facility for a month. You will always have a few bad apples at all places of business. I give my good and bad comments at this establishment as I visited daily. Note This review is only for the wing I visited. The good - Friendly staff, clean environment, fun activities, good visiting hours and the building did not smell. The bad - Each time visiting each day at different times the some employees taking care of the patients on the wing were always sitting down playing on phones in the hallway. This tells me the higher ups have not been walking the floors and making sure the staff is properly working and taking care of the patients. One other bad is the food service (meals) need some attention. You still get get stars from me.

I wanted to love Garden Park. It's a beautiful facility, the grounds are spectacular, the staff I have met were nice & friendly. However, my mother has been in several facilities over the past 8 years, for rehab due to knee & hip surgeries. Those are all rehab instances where in the beginning at least, you are stuck in bed. Many nights in those facilities unable to get up and requiring diapers, chucks and staff assistance to maintain skin integrity. Garden Park is the first place she has ever been where she developed a pressure ulcer on her sacrum. It’s a shame because I wanted to like Garden Park. There was so much that looked promising about it. I suppose if you had a family member that was not bed bound I might suggest trying it. Otherwise, Go to Village Healthcare of the Glen Shreveport or Colonial Oaks Bossier with your bed bound.
