Our family had a very upsetting experience with Fairview Manor while a loved one was a resident from August 14–19, 2026.

We had serious concerns about the timeliness of personal care, existing and additional pressure sores, a meal from which flies came when the container was opened, and an inappropriate interaction involving physical therapy.

On August 19 our loved one was taken by ambulance to UPMC Hamot with a serious medical emergency. Fairview Manor did not contact the emergency contact or any other family member that night, the following day, or afterward. Our family learned about the hospitalization through MyChart and had to contact the facility ourselves.

When we returned to the facility, we found our loved one's belongings shoved into boxes and left unsecured in a common area. We were told the facility's protocol was to inventory belongings and seal the boxes, but no inventory was done and the boxes were not secured. Money was also missing, and the facility could not adequately account for it.

Our loved one passed away at UPMC Hamot on August 24, 2026. We are not claiming Fairview Manor caused the death. Our concerns are about the care provided, lack of communication, treatment of a vulnerable resident, and handling of personal belongings and money.

We believe these concerns warrant an independent investigation and accountability. Families deserve to know that their loved ones are being treated with dignity, properly cared for, and protected while in a nursing facility.

BEWARE!!!!!! Several nurses advised us to get our family member out of there!

I have not been to this facility, however, a friend of mine is currently in rehabilitation here every time I call, a different person answers the phone, however every single person that answers the phone is rude, unwilling to help connect me with my friend and every single person that has answered has had a terrible tone and a bad attitude in general. Come on Fairview Manor, your staff needs to find "their manners."

If I could give zero stars I would. My grandma was being transported there for hospice. They didn’t have a single thing ready for her. She died within 2 hours of being there. The hospital stated she should’ve definitely had a few days left. Mind you she was supposed to be on morphine every hour and in those two hours never received any. Not a single nurse came in the room as my grandma was screaming in pain. The head nurse, or whatever she was, literally has only been there for three weeks and had no clue on the systems there.

I would highly recommend taking your loved ones elsewhere.
