Lovely facility! The staff is so attentive, friendly and experienced. I am a nurse and have very high standards. My cousin is there for subacute care. She is very happy with the care and therapies. One day she was having some swelling in her foot and the staff made sure to address with the doctor and promptly ordered testing. The facility is very homey and clean. It smelled great too. I am very impressed and highly recommend this subacute rehab.

My daughter-in-law turned 41 today. The entire staff is very pleasant and quite helpful. The therapies she is receiving have been very good helping her to be independent. Rick goes out of his way to give advice and makes sure she's improving

My mother was a patient at Emerge for about 1 month after significant back surgery. The experience at Emerge was smooth from admission through discharge. Attention to detail for my mothers personal needs was always prioritized from time of therapy to the always offered menu available through guest relations/kitchen. By the time my mother was ready to leave she was walking so much better and was able to heal significantly enough so her pain management needs were considerably less. She still talks about the rehab staff that kept her motivated, engaged and laughing through the tough times as well as the recreation department with their hands on activities and BINGO! We truly believe we would not have had as great an outcome if she did not come to Emerge for surgical aftercare. The relief of having the aides available to assist took the stress mentally and physically off both my mom and myself so that we knew she was in a safe place to recover. Sheri from Social work referred my mom to home care services that was able to provide physical and occupation therapy in the home as well as an aide that was able to help her adjust to her home environment and not be overwhelmed while trying to return to her previous level of function. She now walks independently (with a cane for long distances, rolling walker for really long distances). She can drive, cook, clean, do laundry and spend time with her grandkids once again! But most of all she is thrilled to be pain free and stronger than ever thanks to her amazing surgical team followed by her amazing supportive and strengthening experience at Emerge. She would come back again for any future needs, and she tells all her friends that this is the place to go!

I don't think the place is equipped to handle serious cases. If your family member is healthy in general and just had a fall or maybe fractured a hip I think they can handle that but as far as any serious medical issues, I think they lack the skill set. That's not to say some of them don't mean well or that they don't try its just that it's an abysmal place to be and no one should have to endure that place. When they gave us the list of names to send my dad I didn't go by my gut I went by the reviews and I should have went right to the one star ones. I didn't I just saw the 4.7 and thought okay my dad will be okay and that was not the case. First the design of the room he was in was absolutely asinine. It put his roommates TV right into his bedroom. His roommate constantly played the TV as loud as he could for around 10-14 hours a day. What moran thought of that design. Also, the food was god awful. I realize it's an institution and you shouldn't expect much because it has to feed a lot of people all with different tastes but my dad basically was trying to live off of sandwiches. I will also agree with the lack of checking in on patients. My dad said he used the call button but didn't get any response. I don't know how often he used the button but it didn't seem to have any consequence. When I called to have them check on my dad because I thought he might be overheating it took over 5 mins for the nurses desk to pick up the phone. When they did they immediately hung up. About 20 mins later I got a call about my dad losing consciousness and them calling 911 after which he passed away. I keep thinking if they picked up the phone. Please don't send your loved one here if they are old, frail, in need of actual care or have more then one medical issue. If they broke a hip or just in recovery they can probably be okay. I don't think the lack of care is intentional I think it's just burnout or possible not having an idea of how to care for really sick people. I believe that it should not be put on the list of facilities when the patient is in need of actual care.

Emerge seems like a good, supportive facility for people who are capable of a meaningful recovery, but I believe my mother was profoundly failed by the medical staff here at the end of her life. While there was some vague communication from doctors advising comfort care, their care was not consistent with that reccomendation. Less than three weeks before her death, she was suffering from advanced congestive heart failure and had mostly stopped eating. She had lost about 30% of her body weight and virtually all of her mobility. The staff doctor told me at this point that she wouldn't be a candidate for hospice care because she didn't have a "terminal diagnosis". About two weeks prior to her death, she began to suffer from severe, constant distress and discomfort from air hunger. To my knowledge, no doctor examined her in person during this time. The doctor who was usually there during the day was on vacation with no one to cover for him. While I was able to get her meds increased (slowly), the treatment was still woefully inadequate to her needs. She quickly reached a point where she was moaning in distress at almost every waking moment. After she completely stopped eating, I finally asked for a hospice referral and discharge which management tried to delay for trivial reasons. Fortunately I was able to bring her home and get her the palliative care she needed just two days before her death. It wasn't a totally negative experience. I found the nurses, physical therapists, CNAs, and support staff to be very competent and kind. It's kept clean. A lot of the patients seem happy and I know that many are able to thrive and recover. I ultimately regret bringing my mother here, however.
