I was at Elderwood Wheatfield for rehab and PT services post hip replacement surgery. I cannot commend the staff of all divisions of this facility for the kindness and professionalism they displayed at all times. In addition to the staff, the building itself was always very clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend Elderwood at Wheatfield to anyone who is in need of the type of services they provide. Robin Zastrow

I have high regards for this place …….. most all of staff went above and beyond in their services…2 individuals were very cold, not helpful on night shift. But would recommend elderwood for reHAB…..PT, OT, NURSING STAFF HOUSEKEEPING AND ANCILLARY HELP ALL VERY NICE AND VERY COMPETANT. FOOD WAS TOLERABLE AND SERVED WARM TO HOT EACH MEAL. THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF FOR EXCELLENT CARE.

Do not for the sake of God ever use this facility. My wife was here for a 2-month rehab stay. During that time, they refused medical care, failed to follow the documented care plan, and exposed HIPAA details for a former patient. She contracted an ESBL infection twice, was discharged with bed sores and an infection they were supposed to treat prior to discharge. She was given 4 showers over the 2 months, and during one of them was left and forgotten in the shower. Only when they discovered her missing and began a search did they find her. During a PT session, they failed to provide reasonable fall precautions resulting in her falling to the floor. She was left in fecal soiled briefs for periods of up to 12 hours. Put into a wheelchair for hours on end, she developed a blood clot in her leg. I did file a complaint with the state, and of course Elderwood couldn't recall any of the lapses in care.

Long term care is horrible! If your loved one cant speak for themselves, check on them everyday! Also, go at different times of the day. If they know what time you come they leave the resident in filth until right before you visit. The continual excuse is short staffing. The real issue is lazy staffing that doesnt care. Constant no call no shows especially the day after a Bills game. There are a few truly committed employees that work so hard to pick up the slack. Most of the good employees have left due to no disciplinary action.

Mom has been at this facility for 4 years. The administration is top notch. They are responsive to concerns. There is a challenge with staffing as it seems businesses everywhere have shortages since COVID. However, administration works together as a team. Michelle Hardy, the Director of facility, actually works as an aide when needed. Mom who has dementia lived with me for 3 years. When she needed more help, I placed her here where our family visits 4-5 times per week. We feel this is a good fit and recommend.
