Paid 2 full months, husband passed after 2 weeks. Excuses that I haven't gotten a refund. Misled that there were always 2 caregivers. Only one. Hard worker but had too much responsibility .

I have had 2 family members at DFW Veranda aka Southwest Veranda. The first was my mother in law. She was well cared for. Suzanne had a few staff members that worked days and nights. My MIL had Alzheimers and passed away while at this residential care home. When my mother in law passed away we left most of the furniture for them to use for future tenants or for the staff. Fast forward to 2024. My father in law needed more care than what the assisted living facility could provide him so we decided to move Ken over to Southwest Veranda. We had no idea that Suzanne only had 1 employee working at the house. We found out once Ken was there. Ken needed a lot of care and Suzanne found someone to come in and stay with him at night but we had to pay for it out of our pocket. Mind you she had an employee for day and an employee for nights when my MIL was there. During the process of this staff member sitting with Ken, Suzanne called and asked me if she could get a half months rent early as she was having trouble making the bills. I declined and she apologized for asking. I asked why she didn't have an evening employee and she said she didn't have enough tenants there to afford one so that is why we were paying for this night person. Yes this night person was sitting with Ken and that provided a great service for us. During the time there we found out that the first day time employee that was working there was providing sexual favors to our father in law in exchange for money. We talked to Suzanne about it and she assured me that this was not happening. Even though over $400 went missing from Ken's billfold. We told Suzanne over and over that no employee should be taking any money from Ken for any reason and she assured me that this would not happen. This employee left to go back to Africa and Suzanne hired another employee for the day shift. It wasn't too long before our father in law was receiving the same service in exchange for money. Each employee had a son and needed extra money. This time $540.00 went to the employee. We know this because our father in law told us about it. He wanted more money and we refused to give it to him . We went to Suzanne and her onsite manager and reported the situation. We were told that this employee swore that she never shared her personal information with our father in law, yet he told us verbatim what she needed the money for. We were asked to buy a camera and catch them on film. This was not our job to do and we did not do it. During this time we found the meals to be minimal. Microwaved, A balanced meal was 3 pieces of frozen breaded shrimp, a bowl of terrible coleslaw and a roll. We also gave a large screen TV to the staff. I worked on their ice maker in the kitchen as they had no ice for drinks. They never had anything to drink but water. He wanted coffee and to get coffee we had to buy a coffee maker for their kitchen and supply the coffee, creamer and sweet and low. At $4K a month with Hospice taking care of my FIL's major needs you would think that they would have the money to handle things that needed to be covered. We gave notice and moved him to a wonderful facility. We asked about the $2K deposit and we were told that the contract says no deposit is refundable. I did not receive a copy of the contract until about a month before we moved Ken. I asked for it over and over again and had to push the issue to get a copy. I was met with the question, "why do I want a copy?" Mind you this is for a bedroom with a shared bathroom. We had to supply trash sacks for the trash cans, we had to buy a internet booster so he could get TV back in his bedroom. We had to pay for TV service as they don't carry anything that offers any channels. The home is not ADA compliant. They have a step in the front that you have to get assistance with to get your family member in a wheelchair up and into the house. There is no fire protection/sprinkler system which is required to be in compliance
