I will preface this by saying I am a nursing student who came to participate in a blood pressure clinic at Decatur house today & went on a tour of the facility and met staff. I was so blown away by this beautiful facility - it is seriously gorgeous. The staff was so caring and kind and the residents seemed so happy and well cared for. As someone who has been inside many local facilities, this one was one I’d place my loved one in (or, hope to be in one day myself). You will not be disappointed if you are considering this place!

We reached out to Margot, the Director of Marketing at this senior living community, about a potential collaboration with the Decatur House, and the response we received was unexpectedly rude and dismissive. It was honestly disappointing, especially since we were coming in with the goal of building something positive together. In a setting that’s supposed to center around care, respect, and community, this kind of interaction feels off. Partnerships matter in senior living—they directly impact the quality of life for residents.and it’s hard to understand why someone would respond this way to an opportunity meant to benefit the community. If this reflects the tone at the leadership level, it raises concerns about how others might be treated as well.

My mother lived at Decatur House for eight years. She moved there from New York to be closer to family, and was immediately welcomed into the community. Decatur House quickly became "home" for her -- we were all so grateful to see her adjusting to assisted living, and making new friends, much faster than we thought she would. Linda, Steve, and all of the staff at Decatur House got to know her so well; they saw the "whole" person, not just the symptoms of aging. Because of them, I didn't have to worry; I could be a daughter, rather than a caretaker.

My mother was a resident for almost 2 years. She absolutely loved Decatur House, the lovely grounds and the setting in Sandwich village. The management by owner Linda Austin was superlative as were the employees. Each individual receives loving care in a homelike environment. I highly recommend this assisted-living facility
