I had to give them 1 star. Wouldn’t put my dog in that place. So many healthcare and people have horror stories. Needs to be shutdown or totally replaced

If I could give this place a zero I would. My Aunt was sent here from the hospital about 2 years ago with some health issues and a dementia diagnosis. Upon touring this facility I decided to find her another place because this place smelled of urine, it was dirty, old, and I just was not comfortable with her being there. I was talked into her staying due to her being familiar with some of the residents and that she may have problems adjusting to another facility due to her dementia and it would not be a good idea to move her. The staff said they were short staff that day and that is why the building was a little "unkept" as they called it. Reluctantly I agreed because I didn't live in the state and she did know people that were residents so I figured I'd give it a try. Well everytime I would come to visit I would always have things to complain about like them taking all of her brand new clothes on multiple occasions ( and yes her name was inside them), her half of room she shared being dirty, her being soaked in urine and unclean and all they could say was she refused her baths but this is what she needs help with remembering her medicine, bathing and staying clean, doctors appointments, etc. She was lethargic and blood pressure was very high and had to have the ambulance called. When they picked her up it was noted she smelled of urine and was soak and wet. Her hospital stay was 5 days and was released. Upon returning the next few days she was found lethargic and slow to respond so an ambulance was called. It was noted that once again she was soaked from urine and in the same clothes as she was when they picked her up a week ago, this time DSS was notified. She had contracted pneumonia and along with her other health issues she unfortunately passed away. I say all this to say Croatan Ridge contributed majorly to her death! I don't know what happens on a day to day but it sure the heck is not elderly care. This place needs to be shut down and all the staff members need to be replaced because they know what is going on and I know I could not have been the only one with complaints about their loved ones. NOTE: there are some aids that will listen and help but not often. The food is most always served cold, clothes are being stolen by staff, the janitor lady is lazy says she cleaned the rooms but they are still filthy. Proper care is not given here Please do not take your family members here unless you don't care about them. Learn from my fatal mistake in trusting that they would do the right things once they got the staffing which is a total crock. STAY AWAY FROM CROATAN RIDGE Nursing Home!!!🤬🤬

I normally never leave reviews for jobs but this place is so unbelievably unprofessional it amazes me! They seem very low staffed and unorganized. If you call the phone will ring and ring until it disconnects by itself. It doesn’t matter who you try to get transferred to speak with no one answers the phone. I’ve been calling for over two weeks now to speak to someone and nothing. Hopefully they can improve one day but it’s terrible.

My husband was hospitalized for five weeks due to complications from a stroke, and ended up at this facility after discharge from ECU, while we waited for a bed to be available elsewhere. The beds were so small for my very tall husband. The director did send for a bed to fit him, but was still not very comfortable. The food was terrible, and they couldn’t seem to get his diet right, I had to go out twice to get him some food as the kitchen closes down and nothing available. The residents there just seemed to be alone in their rooms, not nearly enough staff ,one RN to 29 residents. My husband ended up falling out of bed 2 nights in a row, neither time was I notified when it happened, when I had given them land line and cell phone. I had to find out by looking at my voicemail the next morning. I checked him out of there as he was admitted to hospital, this set his rehab back tremendously. The staff was very nice and helpful when asked, . Call lights were not always accessible . No one explained anything when he was admitted, and the Dr that takes care of the facility, barely listened ,or asked any questions. Use an alternate facility if you possibly can, as this one is far below the norm. Thank you to the nurses and aides there that listened , and were of help to me.

My mother was in after a 4 week hospital stay. The care she received at Croatan Ridge was better than I could ever ask for. The nursing staff, kitchen staff, everyone we were in contact with were more than helpful. They all treated my mother like family. They worked with happy attitudes and always looking out for her best interest. My mother has been in all facilities in Carteret County and this was by far the BEST experience from any of them. It was so nice to know she was so well taken care of. Thank you!!
