Convivial St Petersburg is Coming to the Gulf Coast<br>My wife and I have looked at several of the Independent Living Setting with supports for ageing-in-place -- and Convivial is the one for us!!<br>If you’re in your own home, the move will allow you to free yourselves from all the responsibilities of managing one’s own home and yard. Convivial personnel take care of everything for you – such as house cleaning every couple weeks, maintenance of your place, and commuting to planned medical appointments. Also you’ll have access to amenities such as a pool, spa, fitness gym, dining, and activities of your choosing.<br>Even if you have children, how much bandwidth do they have to take care of your health needs? Convivial’s goal is to keep you in your own independent living setting as long as possible -- arranging for in-home supports to assist you as needed. In addition to the 170 Independent Living homes, the facility has 32 Assisted Living Units, and 16 Memory Care Units on site.<br>We are excited to have selected our condo floor plan and will be choosing many of the interior design features our home as it is being constructed.<br>Happy Campers with Peace of Mind, Rusty and Becky

My husband and I are already enjoying the Convivial family. We chose to be depositors not because we were looking for a future home like Convivial, , but because we became familiar with the concept while researching for others, met the staff, attended informational gatherings, asked and received well-conceived answers to our many questions, and decided we could not pass up the opportunity although we are completely healthy and active. You’re fine until you’re not! We’re happy and comfortable with our being responsible adults and planning for our future! Jessica, Jill and team are professional and so great to work with. We highly recommend Convivial, and we are a tough sell!

Our path to Convivial was informed by the last years of an aging parent back in the 1990's. In my case, 7 adults, 1 parent and 6 children ranging in age from 45 (me) to 62, could not agree on our parent's care. A major challenge was determining what they wanted; a close second was agreeing on how we as care givers would/could/should do. Neither happened, resulting in missed opportunities, wasted resources and strained relationships Most important was inadequate care. What was truly sad was I saw my siblings repeat that pattern with their children. Tim’s experience with his was even more difficult.<br><br>I’m sure you’ve all received solicitations in the mail from local retirement communities. They were all beautiful, beautiful people, beautiful campus, etc. Convivial was no exception, although theirs was more focused. AND offered brunch at the Don Cesar!!! So off we went and promptly learned that we sure didn’t know what we needed to know for an informed decision. Boy, was that ever true about CCRCs and LifePlan communities, options, and dollars.<br><br>The upshot was that we were determined to be the architects of our retirement particularly as we age. To that end, we first had to generally agree as to just what we wanted; it wasn’t detailed and wasn’t set in stone, but it was something to start with. Second, we wanted to make our own decisions as long as we could. This wasn’t done in a vacuum. We shared our plans with family to keep them in the loop, we arranged for those willing to monitor our living arrangements, and most important, we gave authority to some to intervene should they decided that the level of our care was inadequate.<br><br>We kept attending CONVIVIAL events (free food after all) and we visited other communities. Each time Convivial led the pack until we became depositors. Now we eagerly await shoveling some dirt!<br><br>That wait has many benefits. We can view the site, we can monitor their progress, we can assure that the campus is secure and meets the most current codes, particularly we get to know the people who’ll be our neighbors and they get to know us, and we get to know Convivial staff and see how they treat our community and one another. And, most important, we get more of that precious asset…time. We’ll have time to make other arrangement in case life tosses us a major curve ball.<br>Two points I don’t want to miss. Ask questions…ask LOTS of questions. We found Convivial staff always answered our questions or got an answer. Truth told, not all answers were what we wanted to hear, but we got them as well as the rationale for their answer. Keep checking other properties.<br><br>In case I hadn’t mentioned, we get even more free food!!! CONVIVIAL’s choice of venues for their events are good restaurants; but, trust me on this one. If their executive chef, Jeff, caters one of their events, go! You’ll be hooked.
