Having just come home from Bayview,I thought what better time to write. First and foremost ,, the (PT)physical treatment I received was first rate. High praise to Mike and Grace, the therapists, for their outstanding service provided. Also Sue was another stand out in my rehab. She, along with the nursing and nursing aides,by and large, were very good. I commend them all. One area that needs to be improved is menu; it requires much. The food, presentation and delivery were subpar and need to be addressed.

I was first a patient there for recovery in 2016 for a pick line and drainage for an abscess on my liver and the second time was for recovery for a broken femur bone in my right leg in 2022. Both times the medical staff was very caring and took good care of my needs both medical and non medical, I didn't have any mean, neglectful staff members nothing but nice to me and both times I had the same Nurse who was very caring and not sure if she's still there but should get a raise for all the she does for her patients. If ever I need to have recovery I will definitely ask to go to Bay View for care.

My family recently had my grandmother stay at Bayview Health Care for a short-term stay before transitioning into long-term care elsewhere. I want to share our experience in hopes it may help other families who are navigating similar decisions. Overall, most of the staff we encountered were kind, patient, and supportive. Unfortunately, we did have consistent issues with one staff member, Kristen, that left us feeling uncomfortable with the level of compassion and attentiveness my grandmother received. During my grandmother’s stay, she struggled with chronic constipation. In our interactions with Kristen, we often felt she was dismissive and defensive when we raised concerns about hydration, comfort, or basic assistance. Simple reminders or requests were frequently met with rudeness, which made an already stressful situation feel worse. On multiple occasions, our family members had to step in to provide basic help that we expected staff would handle. When my grandmother fell, we were also concerned about the lack of supervision considering how restless and fall-prone she is due to her condition. In addition, we noticed that bathroom areas were not always cleaned as regularly as we would have hoped, which added to our concerns about overall care and attention. I want to emphasize that many staff members were wonderful, and we appreciate their efforts. However, the repeated negative interactions with this particular staff member—and the lack of attentiveness we observed—ultimately made us feel that Bayview was not the right fit for our loved one. Families seeking a supportive and consistently compassionate environment may want to take these experiences into consideration. Addition - Upon further review I have found what appears to be evidence of significant lawsuits totaling almost 5 million dollars against Athena, the owners of Bayview. I have also observed many very rude, unprofessional responses on one star reviews directly from the owner, telling reviewers that social media is not the place to complain. Unfortunately for them, social media is the perfect place to voice these opinions. I believe these two factors only further enforce my low opinion of this facility.

Deciding it's time for long term care for a parent is a tough decision, especially when Medicaid needs to be involved. It's quite a process, but Patricia in admissions and her team helped make the process better. Once all the ducks were in a row - an available bed, Medicaid approval, getting my mother-in-law there - we knew this was a good decision. Everyone we've encountered at Bayview has provided positive experiences. Dealing with dementia patients takes a special kind of patience and we've witnessed this patience and care on every visit. We couldn't be more grateful for the staff at Bayview and know this is the right place for my mother-in-law.

Three years ago my oldest brother and I had to make the decision to place our mother in nursing home, as her needs could no longer be met at home. She was placed at Bayview Health Care in Waterford. My brother and I both agree the quality of care she receives from the entire staff has been nothing but superb. The level care for her medical and personal needs is consistently the best! If or when we need to address any of my mother's needs, the staff will to meet with us in a timely manner, to address any concern or need to be sure she is getting the best possible medical/personal attention. The medical staff keep us informed about any changes or needs. I can also add that the inside of the facility is always cleans. The staff is friendly and caring, something which was important when finding a facility. On behalf of my brother and I I want to thank everyone at Bayview for their care and compassion for our mother. Joe Stefon
