Cedars Healthcare Center

Cedars Healthcare Center is a skilled nursing and rehabilitation community located in Lakewood, Colorado, just a block from Casa Bonita and minutes from several major hospitals in the Denver metro area. The community has undergone nearly $3 million in renovations and features a courtyard with a koi pond, along with bright, open spaces. Cedars is owned by Stellar Senior Living, a family-owned and operated network of communities.

Care at Cedars centers on skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, including short-term rehabilitation for people recovering from surgery, illness, or a hospital stay, and long-term care for those needing ongoing daily support. The community also offers wound care and on-site respiratory therapy for more complex needs, as well as hospice care through trusted partners for end-of-life support. Therapy is available seven days a week, and an RN is in the building around the clock. Respite care is also available, giving family caregivers a short break, with up to 30 days a year covered by Medicaid.

The care approach at Cedars starts with the individual rather than the diagnosis, with residents' input shaping how support is delivered. Many staff members have worked at the community for 10, 20, or even 25 years, contributing to a sense of continuity and warmth. The menu is shaped by residents themselves, who meet regularly with the dietary team to help determine what's served.

Life enrichment programming runs every day, including weekends, with a mix of on-site activities and off-site outings such as sporting events and visits to local attractions. Families can stay connected through the LifeLoop app, which provides access to the activity calendar, participation records, and tagged photos, or through weekly personalized email updates.

Residents are encouraged to personalize their rooms with photos, a favorite blanket, or other familiar items, whether their stay is for a few weeks or longer term. Cedars is Medicaid-contracted and works with Medicare and a range of insurance plans. The community's focus is skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and long-term care; it does not provide specialized memory support, though the team can help connect families to communities that do, including others in the Stellar Living Network.
