May 2026
My dad was admitted in early April 2026 with 2 broken legs. Upon admission he was not offered lunch or a snack. When I arrived I asked 2-3 people for a snack. They each said they would get on. A day or two later I found that they had snacks for the residents down the hall. They also said he could get them himself. Remember he was bed ridden. His first night there he was only checked on and changed 1x even though he paged for help. The same thing happened the next day shift. From the moment he moved in the staff was rude and distant. Even when I was there everyday. They didn't want to talk to us or listen to questions. It was hard to find a cna to help. However, they treated his roomate very well. They called him by his name and were cheerfully asking him questions and asking what he wanted for meals. Dad was offered a meal choice less than 10 times in the month he was there even though they were in there to get the roomates. They let his CPAP mask drop to the floor and left it. I cleaned it when found. Come to find out they were not consistantly using 2-person care. Some days dinner was served at 4:15 then he had nothing to eat unitl 9:00 am the next day. They never offered a snack even when he asked. I brought in snacks. The food was aweful. I should have know since when I asked if the staff ate the food I was told no. Drinks were watered down and tastless. Grilled cheese barely grilled. He lost 11 pound in the first 2 weeks. A male nurse called to alert me. I told he Dad hated the food. The plan was to serve an extra ice-cream cup each meal (lunch and dinner). He rarely got them. I went to speak to this nurse who was in charge of intake, I believe. He jumped from his desk shouted something about he has told them. Then came charging at me. I thought he was going to hit me. My heart was beating hard. A nurse said she would report him. Later he came to me to say he was sorry and it was the dietary departments fault. He said they didn't have vanilla. He said they had strawberry. I said that was fine. It would have been nice to have been told they didn't have vanilla and would switch it. The last week he was there he still didn't get icecream even when he asked. When my sister had called the first week to tell of the problems the solution was to put the administrator's name and number on his wall. They said CNA were spoken to. I felt this made the problem worse. Now they would consider him trouble for getting them in trouble, if they acutually did. Like I said they were rude the entire month. The social worker was another one of the rude people. She was short with me during the intake meeting. I must have been asking too many questions. I also feel that the CNAs resented him because he was more work than his roomate who had better mobility. Dad was never given a proper shower. They did bed baths. They said they couldn't take him in to the shower due to the leg cast. (the new home had no trouble). The tour I was given was great. The admissions lady was bubbily and nice. She spoke of great things. I was fooled. His female nurse was nice but the male nurse (a different one) was cold. Dad and I were asking when his orthopedic appointment was. Everyone asked said they will check. Every couple days I asked. I was never given an answer. After his month was up and he moved to a better facility we found out they never made the appointment. I would have pulled him out sooner if not for an insurance problem. The moment his insurance was settled he moved. They lady who picked him up to take him to the new place told the new nurse that it was horrible there. She saw BM on the floor and they treated her they same way they treated me and dad. While they didn't harm him they are just barely caring for patients. It is obivious they don't hire people who care. I would stay away.
