I spent 20 days at Capital Nursing and Rehabilitation recovering from a major latissimus dorsi flap reconstructive surgery, and the care was truly phenomenal. From day one, the staff made me feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for.<br><br>Huge thank you to my wonderful nurses and aides—Sherrie ,Katherine, Jayshun, and Tara on 2nd shift—as well as the exceptional wound care team, Melvin and Bernard. The daily supervision by Liz and Tanisha across 1st and 2nd shifts kept everything running seamlessly.<br><br>The rehab department was top-tier; the director is a gentle giant who, along with his incredible team, got me strong enough and ready to return home. Even the dining experience was personalized—the red-haired kitchen director always checked in to ensure I was happy with my meals.<br><br>Between the fun, skill-building activities, endless snacks, and beautiful outdoor spaces, I always felt engaged and loved chatting with the long-term residents in the foyer. If you or a loved one need post-surgical rehab, I highly recommend this wonderful facility."<br>Always thankfully for your supportive service.

This place should be condemned. It’s disgusting throughout including negligent and belligerent staff. Falling apart throughout. Parking is limited for guests which includes staff. Food is poor at best. Owned by company that does not care. Zero stars is the best rating I would give this dump.

They've done some recent upgrades and renovations here and it looks very nice. The professional staff are kind and attentive to the residents. It does appear that they may need more CNA staffing (raises and sincere appreciation usually will fix this)... I think that's a common issue in most facilities.

After seeing some disheartening reviews of Capital Nursing and Rehab, I felt the need to share our experience. Sure, the facility is older and not as pretty, but the level of care far exceeds most in the “newer expensive facilities.” It also has an outstanding A100 sanitation grade for cleanliness and food service. I am honored to share my wholehearted endorsement of this long-term care facility. My Mom is in late stage Alzheimer’s. After caring for her 4 years at home, I was very reluctant to place her into a care facility. I watched the staff like a hawk at the beginning. I assumed since she was a Medicaid patient she would not get the best care. I was proven wrong at every turn. Mom has long since lost the ability to recognize me but loves her caregivers and is so happy every day and well cared for. I know others in extremely expensive upscale nursing homes that are not as happy and well cared for as my Mom. The staff always go above and beyond to create a welcoming environment where residents feel not only cared for, but truly valued as individuals… they foster a sense of community, belonging, and emotional well-being. I have seen firsthand the positive impact this facility has on the lives of those it serves. It has a family feeling the moment you walk thru the doors. The professionalism of the staff, the quality of care provided, and the genuine concern shown for each resident make this an exceptional place. Families can feel confident knowing their loved ones are in the hands of people who genuinely care. I highly recommend this facility to anyone seeking a long-term care community where compassion, excellence, and resident-centered care are at the heart of everything they do!! Truly outstanding staff from Director right down to the janitor!!

Edit: I am changing my review to a 2 star. ONLY because Brandon Wood ended up taking over most everything handling our situation personally. I found out later that this company is corporate owned so that explains why there is much to be desired. If the corporation could give all their staff raises along with hiring more staff, fixing the phones, and finding a maintenance team to upkeep the building. It really seems as though this place is out for profit and doesn't give a damn about the people patients and staff alike. I was told that this facility is somehow better than many of the facilities in the area. NC really needs to do better. Overall, elder care is shit in that state. I still stand firm on my view that the social worker needs to be fired. She doesn't care about the patients or the family there. If I could give a separate 5 star review for the PT's and OT's I would because they were wonderful. They display patience and genuine care. The CNA's really need raises because are overworked and underpaid and it is obvious. The nurse was pretty good about contacting me directly with updates. I will say that the patient portal was lacking. As someone who also creates medical notes these were not updated nearly enough and they were incomplete. I understand lack of time (trust me, I get it) but do better. Notes are important not only for the staff but the families who are looking at the notes. Personally, I would like to see improvement in the PT department and being able to access a section specifically to see their progress notes. He was doing PT every day. Weekly updates on the improvements in that regard would be nice. I only saw and was updated when I was in there in person watching what they were doing for the day. Also, a time log would be helpful for the patients including start time end time (daily), exercises (daily), improvements (weekly), and goals (weekly). I only saw one doctor and never personally interacted with him but I observed him with another patient. His bed side manners are better than most I have personally experienced, but they could be better and this is only going off observations with ONE patient. The business office did well with calling me and updating me for insurance purposes it was obvious she was helping me within her scope. The front desk lady is a joy and very helpful in person. She tries over the phone but I swear the phones are messed up in that place. If you are trying to do everything over the phone from long distance things become extremely difficult especially when you are in completely different time zones. I suggest making sure you are able to make some time to be there in person. If I could, I would give this place a 0 star JUST for the administration. I feel bad for the staff and therapists who have to work for this company. The social worker needs to be fired. My concerns were met with a far away, not listening tone of voice "okay," as if nothing was her problem. Medical records extension when transferred takes me to: "we're sorry, this number is no longer in service." The administration doesn't give a damn about the patients or the employees. And apparently the meetings that go on about the patient that I have agency for I am not privied to.
