Where do I begin? So much good goes on at Calera Manor. From the spic and span cleanliness, to the welcoming smiles at the front desk, to the gentle hands caring for my sister, to the expertise of the office staff. I could go on and on, but suffice to say that I couldn't ask for a better place for my sister's hospice care.

This place always feels like home when you walk in. The employees are kind and caring, they are always ready to help. If you’re looking for the best nursing home in Bryan county look no more. If you or a loved one need rehabilitation or are interested in long term care for them give this place a call you will be greeted with kindness and appreciation.

If you care about your loved one please do NOT let them be taken here. I'm sure there are a few staff members who care but the majority only care about the money they receive for your family member being here. They will call and harass and threaten you with APS every chance they get. The level of care is non-existent, they come up with excuses for every little thing. Being under staffed is not an excuse to chemically restrain someone. Being under staffed is not an excuse to allow residents to have numerous falls while no fall-risk safety measures are in place. My grandfather who originally was just there for rehabilitation declined so rapidly after being placed in there care. A man who fought for our country and took care of his family to the best of his abilities, until he got sick on his 88th birthday and needed just a little help getting mobile again. After being placed in their care he went from being able to eat anything he pleased, talk your ear off and give you a run for your money on Western movie stars, declined so rapidly that he was placed on hospice. The only thing they would say is "it could be any day now. Be prepared." Not once was a med list provided, no insight as to his diagnosis. The only thing he received was numerous falls that resulted in him not being able to speak and an emergency hip surgery. Sadly as of 10/28/2025 he has passed away. I beg you, please do not allow them to "care" for your loved one. There is no care to be had from their facility.

If you really care for your loved one, I'd look elsewhere! If they are pretty self sufficient it isn't too bad other than the stinkyness in the building. I know it's a nursing home but it smells like a dog kennel. If you have someone needing an extra eye in them, I wouldn't put them here! They will leave you at the very end of the hall and you can be the patient in the worst shape there and not check on you enough! My mom was there for a short time and was drowning in her own phlegm. My mom has to beat the window with her phone gasping for air until a resident there went to get a nurse. That's after my mom hit the nurse button many times.. also they will leave people laying in piss for far too long. Again, if your loved one isn't self sufficient, look elsewhere for sure. Staff always in their phones at night instead of watching people like my mom that need an extra eye! To say I'm pissed off is an understatement!

If you love your family member, even in the slightest, you will never, ever send them to this facility—it is a living nightmare no one should endure. My grandfather was transferred from Alliance Hospital in Durant to this nursing home, and the experience was nothing short of horrifying. The hospital, claiming they could no longer keep him, sent him to this facility for continued treatment for a bladder infection. But instead of being a place of healing, this nursing home became a place of unimaginable neglect and suffering. From the moment I stepped inside, I was overcome by the stench—a suffocating mix of urine and ammonia that burned my eyes and made it hard to breathe. The residents, many of whom were clearly in desperate need of care, were left to languish in filth. Some hadn’t bathed in what appeared to be weeks, and one woman’s cries of “Oh God, help me” echoed through the dark, cold hallways. It was heartbreaking. The rooms were bleak and devoid of basic comforts—no TVs, no warmth, just an overwhelming sense of abandonment. My grandfather, a proud and resilient man, described it as “utterly terrible, just terrible.” He had been receiving IV antibiotics, yet I could see his spirit was broken by the sheer neglect and inhumanity of the place. This isn’t just a bad nursing home—it’s a place where the elderly are left to suffer. If you have a family member here, go get them out now. And if you’re considering placing a loved one here, I implore you: don’t. Sending them to this facility is sentencing them to poor treatment, isolation, and even infection. I can only pray that none of us ever have to experience a place like this in our later years, when we are most vulnerable and in need of care. No one should. This facility needs to be held accountable for the way it treats its residents, and I hope this review serves as a warning to others. Do not entrust your loved ones to this place. They deserve better.
