The perpose of my wife's stay at Cadia was for rehabilitation. Her "rehab"" amounted little more than 30 minutes a day for the entire two weeks she was there. She wasn't allowed to even go to the bathroom by herself. She was never walked around the facility or given any other excercise. The wait for a wheelchair from was a disaster. The delivery people claimed they brought it, but wife told them she didn't need it. NOBODY spoke to her. People called me at near 10 o'clock and were so obnoxious that I thought it was a scam. We have now been waiting four and a half hours for it to come so my wife can be released. Rehabilitation has been a joke.

My grandfather is currently staying at Cadia for rehab and his experience has not been pleasant. The rehabilitation department is great, and he loves the food, but that's pretty much where the list ends. My grandfather's mattress is older than he is! Most of the protective covering has peeled off and it's got holes in the middle. He's got a bad back and has been sleeping on this decrepit thing the entire time. But the worst issue is staffing. On multiple occasions he rang for assistance to go to the bathroom and no one came. He phoned my mother at home one night because he'd been waiting for over 30 minutes and believed he would have an accident. She called the nurses station and was told that no one could help him go to the bathroom because his nurse was on break. So he was expected to just hold his bowels until the break was over. Mind you, they are giving him stool softeners and laxatives, so they are very well aware that he might have trouble waiting. There is absolutely NOTHING dignified about forcing someone who can use the toilet to defecate in an adult diaper. We've also been told by nursing staff previously that that they are understaffed and that it causes problems with them getting to the patients. Many of the staff seem pleasant but there does not appear to be any sense of urgency. I overheard the woman in the room across the hall just say that she has an issue lay night and ended up sleeping in a wet bed and that she had to yell at the nurse in the middle of the night about it. Someone also came to the facilty to investigate claims of elder abuse while we were there. So just know exactly what you're getting into if you choose to bring your loved one to Cadia. * FYI: They knew. My family complained several times. Didn't make a difference.

My uncle recently had a six week stay at Cadia after a fall and brief hospital stay. The staff at Cadia took good care of him and the staff stayed in touch with our family until he was discharged. The staff in therapy department, social services, as well as the nurses and nurses assistants did a great job caring for his daily needs. They also gave us useful suggestions about his care going forward. The administrative staff always got back to me and my family in a timely fashion.

I have to give this nursing home a 5 out of 5. My mom fractured her hip and was brought here for physical therapy and rehab. Not only did they do an amazing job with her and she was up walking within the first week there. Not only was this place very clean but they took very good care of her. Most nursing homes that I have been in actually have that faint smell of urine or just that "nursing home" smell. This place never had a bad smell. All the staff were always so friendly and helpful. The food was pretty good also. I sometimes tasted what my mom didn't eat. I hope my mom doesn't have to go back into a nursing home for any reason. But if she does, this would be my first pick.

I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the exceptional care my mother received at Cadia Silverside. From the moment she arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure her comfort and well-being. The team at Cadia Silverside not only provided top-notch medical care but also showed genuine compassion and empathy at every step. They took the time to truly get to know her, making sure her emotional and psychological needs were just as well cared for as her physical health. The facility itself is warm, welcoming, and designed to promote healing in a peaceful environment. I particularly appreciated how they communicated with us every step of the way, keeping us informed about my mother's progress and addressing any concerns we had. It was clear that everyone there, from the nurses to the administration, truly cared about her well-being. Thanks to their wonderful team, my mother made a full recovery, and we will forever be thankful for the care and compassion she received. If you’re looking for a rehab facility where your loved ones will be treated with respect, dignity, and kindness, I highly recommend Cadia Silverside.
