This facility is beautiful, very well maintained and managed. The staff is superb and always friendly. There are many organized fun things to do here. You have to choose among several choices as to what you want to do each day. We have been here for 1 year now and after checking out 6 places a year ago we know this was the right choice for us.
Jim and Sandy Davis

Cactus Valley is the "almost perfect place" for me to live. I love the fact that I don't have to cook, and that 3 healthy meals are provided each day. Some things are not cooked to my taste - like baby food quality vegetables - but I'll go for that in return for not having to cook!

Cactus Valley is an attractive residence, but things are starting to show wear. (7 years is a long time to expect things to be like new.) Equipment replacements and scheduled maintenance is a must with so many people moving in and moving out. Upgrades in security need to be evaluated for outdoor lighting, security gates, and strangers coming and going.

This facility is meant to be a retirement resort for independent seniors. Quality entertainment is regularly provided. Lots of games and activities are offered to keep us socializing as a community. But I also treasure the fact that as an independent retiree, I can do things on my own and not feel pressured to be a "joiner."

I like the fact that pets are allowed, but dogs are restricted to the first floor so that they have a patio/back yard to play in. That makes sense. Pets are like family to many people, and I'm glad they can stay with their owners.

There are some people who live here that are not at all independent. Some of them can't leave their rooms without a private care giver or are totally bedridden. I know we can't say no to people who want to live here and hire their own private helpers. But my personal preference is that these people have their own floor in the residence. My expectation when I moved in here was that I would be with lots of active, intelligent young seniors that would share many of my interests, and there really are many of those folks. But selfishly I didn't want to be reminded every single day that so many elderly people need assistance and that I will be faced with being in that condition way sooner than I want to be.

Basically, Cactus Valley is like being on a mini cruise ship without floating on water. I haven't mentioned all the amenities yet, and there are a lot of them. I'll leave that to marketing, as our department has done a good job of that.

Oh yes. One more thing - When corporate tightened our belts and cut down the budgets for the various departments, and at the same time increased our rent, a lot of people decided they weren't getting the quality they wanted for the money they were paying. So, they left. I have no idea if their new situations turned out better for them or not. My hope is that when the economy is better for everyone, we can be back to normal again.

Cactus Valley offers me the flexibility I want as I grow older. Managers and staff are wonderful. Fellow residents became friends quickly.

It would be good to have an outdoor activity for residents and visiting family. A bocce ball court would be low maintenance and a good way to get some exercise.
