After being part of the Brookdale family for one year, I highly recommend the assisted living facility. In April of 2024, an emergency room visit and rehab stay helped us determine it was no longer safe for my mom, who has dementia, to live alone. The rapid move to assisted living was not my mom’s choice, and the first six months were very difficult for us. The entire staff persevered in loving my mom, and now she realizes the necessity of the help she receives. In fact, she’s overwhelmed by the love and support she receives from the staff. While there have been a few staff changes, many on staff are the same as when my mom moved in. Any problems we’ve encountered have been resolved quickly and professionally.
The simple layout of the facility, cleanliness, and small size of the community was extremely helpful in my mom’s transition. The nursing staff is diligent in making sure medication is given accurately, and using the doctor who services Brookdale has eliminated many trips to a doctor’s office. While my mom chooses not to participate often in activities, the staff perseveres in encouraging her to attend. When her great grandsons visit, the activities director makes sure mom has something to give the boys. I’m amazed by Brookdale’s commitment to include families and the community in activities such as Easter Egg hunt, Mother’s Day events, Halloween fall festival, Thanksgiving meal, Christmas celebration, and so much more.
After my father’s sudden death in 2021, mom lived alone for almost three years. She has benefited greatly from social interaction as well as the consistency of medication and meals. She’s a picky eater, and the staff provides alternative meals at her request. She doesn’t get up in time for breakfast, so they routinely take cereal to her room so she can eat “on her own schedule”.
Long story short, the entire Brookdale staff goes above and beyond to make sure my mom’s needs are taken care of, and I am incredibly thankful for them in this season of life. As an only child, I know God has lovingly provided an army of people to help care for my mom. They are truly the hands and feet of Jesus, and they are helping my mom understand His unconditional love in their daily acts of kindness.
Reviewed by Jodie Owens

My mom has been at Brookdale for 1 month. They are taking really good care of her. She is enjoying all the activities they have daily. Good place for your elderly parent and gives you a piece of mind knowing she is in good hands.

My grandmother lived here for 4 years. The staff here treated her so well. The activities direct always decorated well which my grandma appreciated. I’m so thankful for the staff there. The took great care of her and she really loved it. I would highly recommend them to any family looking for an assisted living home for their loved ones.

My father had to be admitted during the time when COVID was hitting hard in the spring of 2020. It was an extremely difficult situation & probably the most stressful experience of my life. The Director, Kari Willard, was a miracle worker in getting him admitted smoothly & without incident. The Health & Wellness Director, Ann Welch, was a true angel with her care & concerns for my father. I truly never imagined people in their positions actually cared that much for their residents. My mother was also admitted there a little more than a year later & they went above & beyond all expectations to ensure her move went smoothly. I cannot say enough good things about the leadership at this facility.

Brookdale Broken Arrow calls itself a community, and that can’t be more accurate. Not only are they resident focused, but also are “here” for the families. Without them, some of the hardest days of our family’s life would have been unbearable.

To be more specific, at the height of COVID, we had to bring our Mom into Brookdale. Not only did they make that transition safe for Mom, but made Dad feel good about it every step of the way. They further worked with him, so though we were all still in lockdown, he could see her in distant and window visits daily. Throughout our four years here with Mom, she has been treated with love, kindness, respect and understanding. As my sister and I both live far away, they also extended love to us when we came, and to my father on a daily basis.

When he could no longer live on his own, they welcomed him into the Community and though Mom and Dad had very different needs, they made sure each had their needs met as well as giving them time and space together.

As Dad declined, the staff remained in constant contact with us. Ensured that we could speak with our father regularly and sat with us as he left us. They have been there for us in the hardest time.

The staff, the aides, from cleaner to director treats everyone with kindness, respect and caring. The facility is clean, fresh, easily asensible and MOST importantly focuses on safety of all. What more can I say?

Brookdale Broken Arrow is a Community that cares.

Rhay Christou
Daughter/POA of two Brookdale Residents
