I really appreciate the time and care the staff of Broadway has taken to help my father. Dad stayed there from Dec 2021 and was discharged in Sep. This is an older facility that appears outdated and looks like it might have been built in the 1980s. BUT… You definitely don’t want to judge this place by its cover. The staff were very kind and very attentive. You only had to ring the buzzer once, and a nurse was in the room within a minute. They knew each patient, understood each one’s individual needs and so forth. It is always clean and managed regularly. Surprisingly, some of the staff are quite young and are college-age or younger, but they actually enjoy their job of caring for your elderly relative. Being located in a small town, the staff do treat the patients very much like they are family. Patient care plans are done quarterly, and the staff keeps you informed. The facility is owned by psychiatrists. My Dad’s a veteran, and the facility is good about interacting with the VA and taking your relative to their VA appointments in the Medride van they use. If your relative uses the VA, be sure to check that the VA has sent doctors notes back with the your relative after their appointment. Sometimes they will forget, and it leaves Broadway staff hanging and having to follow up with them. So you will need to stay on top of the VA for the sake of your patient. It can be hit or miss. What I love most is how attentive Broadway is towards caring for your relative. They really do care and look out for their needs. I would highly reocmmend them to anyone wanting to ensure their loved ones are being cared for. UPDATE: Years later, Dad needed hospice. I chose Broadway for his care. A separate hospice team worked with Broadway, provided his oxygen and other equipment needs. Broadway even moved Dad to a room where he’d be more comfortable. The staff remembered Dad’s food preferences and made him extremely comfortable. A couple weeks later, Dad wanted to spend his last days at home. I didn’t even know you could do that, but Broadway was willing to accommodate his wishes. However, Dad passed away before he had the chance. The Broadway staff were very comforting to him all the way until the last minute, even allowing him his favorite ice cream and so forth. They were also a comfort to me. I had no experience with hospice at the time. In the process of moving Dad to Broadway, I was dealing with a hospice care team, doctors asking about advanced directives, do not resuscitate, etc. — all the things stressing you out. The Broadway staff met with me and Dad in a calm setting and gently explained all the protocols, risks, benefits of a certain procedure, etc. Then I felt calmer about the decision. If it weren’t for them, I would have gone ballistic. Top notch, highly skilled and reliable staff.
