About BrightStar Care

BrightStar Care is a home health and hospice provider serving Addison, Texas. The company offers services including nursing, physical therapy, and occupational therapy delivered in clients' homes.

Families consistently praise the clinical staff—nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists—for compassion, responsiveness, and gentle care. One family noted that getting started on their recovery was remarkably efficient. However, administrative and customer service experiences have been mixed. Some families report smooth ongoing relationships over years, while others describe delays in ordering medical supplies, poor communication during discharge, and unhelpful phone support that left them frustrated during critical care needs.

BrightStar Care holds a 4.8/5 Google rating based on 136 reviews. The gap between clinical-care praise and administrative frustration appears significant enough that prospective clients should clarify administrative processes before enrolling, particularly those with time-sensitive medical needs.

We have been using BrightStar Care for home health nursing services for years and things have almost always run very smoothly. We have experienced particularly wonderful care from the home health care nurses we have had.

Awful customer service. After three full weeks the company failed to order appropriate medical supplies that were necessary for my husbands medical care. The customer service lady was unapologetic, rude, and blamed the doctor for her mistakes in ordering the adequate volume of supplies. If you have a serious life threatening health condition, this is not a good choice for a home health vendor. They lack medical expertise, compassion, and aren’t able to get medical supplies in less than 48hours unless they have it already on hand.

The therapy and care received was great. The administration and customer service poor and unresponsive. The customer service assistance over the phone was rude and unconcerned. The discharge process was complicated, not responsive, and not communicated. Took over 1.5 week with lost time and no physical therapy because discharge process was not completed.

I just realized my review forJulie didn’t go through on my pan old phone. I was very fortunate to work with Patrick for PT and Julie for OT in late 2023 to very early 2024. My review for Patrick is still there but the one for Julie isn’t. So, I thought I’d do a new one. When I first met Julie I was just out of hospital, was having multiple seizures daily, and my left hand was so curled into a tight fist that it was impossible to open. When I did finally do have exercises to raise the fingernails slightly I had to keep my hand down and facing away from me and rely on a table top mirror to be able to cut my nails on that left hand. I finally managed to get a finger, then a pan, then a essential oil roller bottle, and a small TV remote wedged into that hand to keep it from closing into a full fist during seizures. Julie gave me Thera Putty for my hand, and that has helped with my ability to move my fingers sooo much! I can now open doors, hold light utensils and cups and even pet my dog and type with that left hand, things I couldn’t do for years! This is all such exciting progress for me! 🎉🎉 Julie also helped me get to the front of the house and even outside and up the block a bit in the sunshine with my walker a few times. One time we were even outside for 15 whole minutes without my being so exhausting I had to catch in bed afterwards! It was awesome! ☀️☀️ She also got me started with cycling with a mini bicycle thingy she put at the foot of my wheelchair and showed me how to raise my cane above my head and in front of me and side to side from my wheelchair to help regain strength. When we met I just barely started being able to reach to put socks on by myself, but I couldn’t brush my hair or change my shirt because of that curled in left hand and really tight, painful left shoulder. With the upper body exercises to regain strength I started being able to brush my hair AND change my shirt without assistance nearly every time! That’s HUGE for me, and I’m just so very, very grateful for the major progress I made with Julie as my OT and Patrick as my PT! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I just wanted to brush my hair, change my shirt and get to the front of the house to get myself some leftovers without having to rely on everyone else in my family for everything. I hit these goals so much earlier than expected so we had to keep expanding on our goals, which I never expected. They both told me I had hit all of the goals they had for me when they left, and that was very encouraging! 😃😃. It’s now late October 2025, and I’ve continued to progress with exercises they gave me. I now walk mainly with my cane, use my walker mainly for seizure days and rarely have to use the wheelchair that I once could not cross the room without. I could barely walk across half a room without dragging my left leg and being completely out of breath at the start. We also had to do most exercises in a dimly lot room, because seizures and migraines had light sensitivity way, way up! Most of the time now I am turning on lamps WITH my left hand and even getting out onto our back patio to enjoy the clouds, too! ⛅️⛅️ Getting outside again was a long term goal of mine, but with Patrick’s and Julie’s help it became a reality in that first month of working for them! I am so very, very grateful for my time with them and would definitely request both of them again if I needed more rehab after another hospital stay! They really did impact my life for the better, and I still encourage myself on harder days with things they told me. The memories of my time with Julie and Patrick continue to remind me it’s important to rest after seizures, to focus on maintaining what I’ve gained, having my route planned out in my mind before I get up to help with stability and energy and the importance of taking time to move, to play, and to get outside in the sunshine! 😎😎 I would definitely recommend Bright Star and Julie and Patrick! Thank you all for making such a difference for me! 👍🏻👍🏻

My first time needing home therapy, and the efficient and quickness of getting me started on my road to recovery makes it more special! My home health nurse Mindy who visits me weekly is very compassionate and supportive and will answer any questions I have for her. Sam my PT she took over for Jimmy when he moved out of town. She is very compassionate, gentle, kind, supportive, encouraging! Sam is very knowledgeable in her training and explaining how to do things the right way so I will not hurt myself. I'm on the road to recovery! Thank you for such an amazing team and all that you do to help others! God Bless!
