I am so grateful for the care and attention my mom receives at Brandywine Pennington. From the concierges at the front desk, to the nurses, to the activity leaders, to the maintenance staff - everyone is caring and supportive of my mom. They show a genuine interest in her and her well-being. The facility is spotless and the staff is kind. If ever I have a question or concern, I am listened to with compassion and respect and we work together to support my mom and her needs. Our experience has been wonderful and they have created a true community a Brandywine Pennington.

My Dad moved to Brandywine Senior Living in Pennington in June 2024. During his time at Brandywine, he received excellent care from the kind and courteous staff, to the nurses who work tirelessly giving each resident the utmost attention. The facility is immaculate. Most importantly my Dad received loving care from every single member of the staff, whether it was chatting about his love of golf or checking on him when he didn't show up for a meal. The residents are friendly and the activities are fun. I could go on and on with positive comments. Thank you Brandywine for all (each and everyone of you ) you did for my Dad. His last year of life was a happy one thanks to you!

Moving to Brandywine is one of the best decisions I've ever made. The staff is hard working and caring. Can't say enough good things about them.

They are fine if you’re loved one doesn’t actually need assistance. They happily take a lot of your money and the nurses are lovely. But if you’re loved one needs actual
assistance eating or being moved and cleaned properly, and most importantly, spotting a potential serious medical problem, they take zero initiative to help and alert a doctor. It’s more like independent living. The director just says nothing is in her power. It’s all corporate decisions. It’s absolutely not about the elderly residents and their medical needs.

My mother passed away at Brandywine last month. The decisions you are facing now about the care of a loved one are difficult and life-changing ones. It is with great gratitude that share my experiences with Brandywine at Pennington to assist you.

This is the third review I have written over many years. Hard to believe it has been 8 years since mother moved into her one-bedroom suite at Brandywine. In my first review I comment on what a lovely facility, with many activities, and great food. I talked about the difficult transition for parents leaving their homes of (in my case) 50 years, and how it did not take long for mother – and for me - to feel part of the Brandywine community.

Several years later mother moved to a one room studio, and I submitted a second review. While it was still true the building is beautiful, the food restaurant quality, and the activities extensive, it became obvious that the thing that sets Brandywine at Pennington apart is the people. I shared how everyone there is warm and welcoming and truly cares about each for their residents and it is so evident in all they do.

Last year mother moved again to a very small room in the Reflection Unit. This was a very difficult time for us as health issues emerged and dementia set in pronouncing that she could no longer live independently. The Reflections director took the time to explain so many things and prepare me for the steps of aging. Not only was she knowledgeable and informative, but she was warm, compassionate and understanding.

Before long medications were regulated, and mother became a new woman. Gone was the wheelchair and back to walking all over with her walker. Her appetite returned and we enjoyed going out to lunch at least once a week. While she would ask the same question over and over and could not tell me what she had for dinner, we were able to carry on wonderful conversations about past trips, family and friends and even current events. I no longer had to worry about being a caregiver. Did she take her medication, did she brush her teeth, do her clothes need to be changed, are we managing her incontinence? All these things were being done respectfully and lovingly by the staff in Reflections. Our time together was spent talking, playing cards, and going to lunch – special mother/daughter moments.

A trip to the ER brought on by sudden stomach pain revealed a ruptured colon, and mother returned to Brandywine under hospice care for the last week of her life. I stayed there every day, and I was truly amazed at the number of staff members that came to her room to check on mother – aids, nurses, housekeeping, maintenance, and the list goes on. Each one took the time to share a story about her and tell me what a sweet lady she was, and they would miss her. These stories shared compassionately filled my heart and brought gratitude at this very difficult time.

In the days after her passing as I packed her things, the staff continued to offer their condolences. Whether it was the receptionist when I arrived, or a wellness nurse in the hall, to a staff member in the lobby, everyone took the time to consol me. In the Reflection unit I was hugged by all with teary eyes that expressed they too had lost a family member.
Words cannot express how grateful I am for the kind and loving care that was given to mother not only in her final days but over the last eight years of her life. Joining the Brandywine at Pennington “Family” is a decision for which you too will always be thankful.
