Sheltered Care

Our goal at Bethesda is for our sheltered care residents to be as independent as possible with our support.

Sheltered Care at Bethesda is ideal for someone who wants to live in a supportive senior community but does not need extensive medical help. Our sheltered care residents maintain their independence while benefiting from additional nursing care as needed.

We offer two levels of service, basic and enhanced, to cater to you or your loved one's needs and abilities. At this level of care, our focus is less on the medical treatment, and more on social and spiritual needs and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs*).

Intermediate Care

Many of the residents at Bethesda Rehab & Senior Care do not require the extent of care that our Skilled Nursing Program provides. Our Intermediate Care level is ideal for residents who require moderate to extensive assistance with activities of daily living, or ADLs*. These activities may include bathing, eating dressing, and toileting. All care is provided under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel.

Skilled Nursing

Bethesda Rehab & Senior Care is a Medicare-certified skilled nursing facility (SNF). If you or your loved one requires round-the-clock skilled nursing care, we will work with your physicians to meet your needs. Our team of licensed medical professionals includes Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), and Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) who provide full-time care to our skilled nursing residents. I never really do this but I felt if anyone is ever in the situation where you have to make the tough decision of putting a loved one in a nursing home, this could help. I don’t even know where to begin. First the staff is second to none. From the ladies who greet you at the door, to Michelle the activities director, she is not only great at her job but is also just a terrific human being. She has been a rock and a shoulder to cry on. The nurses are amazing and keep me informed at all times. The housekeeping staff, Sunny and Carmen. Amazing and friendly. The cna staff like Liz, and Shannon so helpful and a friendly face you can count on. Even the director, easy to talk to has a very hands on approach, and always available for questions and concerns. These people have become like a second family to me, even the residents. As you can see I have focused mainly on the people, because the staff is what makes this an outstanding place to consider. Thank you Bethesda family for all you do.

The admissions/administrative staff are exceptionally friendly and very responsive, and the facility is beautifully maintained. We find the nusing staff to be respectful and genuinely concerned about the residents. The doctors are very thorough and attentive. Our loved one is in excellent care and we're well informed!

Don’t put your loved one here, especially if you can’t personally check on them. The nurses are good, but overworked. Even with best of intentions, they have too many patients to check on and care for on one shift. So expect bed sores, and more. If you haven’t learned this by now, there are no good nursing homes for those on Medicare/ Medicaid. Self-pay offers the best care options and some of them are awful too. My advice: if you can somehow swing it, bring your loved one home and hire a home health company (and hopefully some friends and family can also commit) to help you take care of them. Medicare will pay some of the expenses. Some life insurance policies offer living benefits that can be used. My father became septic because he wasn’t being cleaned and his bed sores got feces in them, causing him several emergency room visits, the last one is where he stayed until he passed, because I could not under any circumstances send him back here or to any other nursing home. I let him stay in a hospital because he needed that level of care. It wasn’t covered by insurance, so we went into large debt.

Before choosing Bethesda, I’d visited, interviewed and researched over 150 facilities and this location had good reviews, but not many. It may have been better before Covid, but during, the only way of seeing him was through a video call, which he was totally sedated through. I would schedule doctors appointments so I could get him out of there to see how he was doing. Never great. The way seniors are treated is absolutely appalling. It’s criminal.

You have great people who work there. then the ones who just don't care and don't belong in taking care of your loved ones. Which is unfortunate . I recommend you also checking on your loved ones !! And don't be afraid to ask for help administration is very helpful! They help me take of things for my mom !!! But you should always over see things for yourself. They are lacking in activities for dementia patients wish they would have more for them to do. !
