Bethesda of Beresford is a nursing home in Beresford, South Dakota, offering skilled nursing care and independent living options. The facility was originally established in 1914 as an old people's home through the vision of Pastor Rev. J.A. Quello and the generosity of community donors, and has grown to become a fully licensed nursing home by 1964.
The current modern facility opened on May 21, 1986, following a complete rebuild in response to maintenance concerns and regulatory changes at the original location. The new building accommodates 83 residents in 59 single rooms and 12 double rooms, and includes a chapel with stained glass windows, a dedicated activities room, and updated maintenance facilities. In recent years, therapy services and an independent living inn have been added to meet expanding community needs.
The community was built on strong local support, including a donated section of land within Beresford's city limits from local farmer Ernest Thompson and a successful fund drive involving numerous families who helped keep living rates as low as possible. The facility was established and is governed by a corporation of 15 local churches, reflecting its faith-based heritage and deep community roots.
