What Families Think

Reviews of Bethesda Dilworth are sharply split: many families praise the physical/occupational therapy staff, cleanliness, and individual caregivers who go out of their way for residents, while a substantial number of others describe serious lapses in basic care—unanswered call lights, missed meals, hygiene neglect, and communication breakdowns. The pattern suggests care quality can vary significantly depending on which unit, shift, or staff members a resident encounters.

The Good

  • Rehab and physical/occupational therapy staff frequently praised
  • Facility repeatedly described as very clean
  • Private rooms with updated bathrooms noted
  • Successful rehab outcomes reported (regained walking, mobility)
  • Individual nurses, aides, and therapists singled out by name for compassion

The Bad

  • Multiple reports of unanswered call buttons leaving residents in soiled linens for hours
  • Several reviewers describe understaffing and staff distracted by phones instead of attending residents
  • Repeated complaints of cold, late, or poor-quality meals and inconsistent meal timing
  • Serious reports of neglect linked to bedsores, UTIs, falls, and in some cases resident death
  • One report of a billing error, with a bill mailed a year after the resident's death

The people here are great, the nurses are nice and they respond fast when you need them. The techs keep me laughing, I forgot how much pain I was in. I was surprised at how good the food was and how quiet and relaxing it is here.

Excellent experience. I have had my great grandmother, both grandmothers, my father and his wife, and my mother living there at Bethesda-Dilworth. Staff is always friendly. They live up to their mission statement. If there is a problem, they address it, and solve it in a short time. Medical staff is excellent seldom have to have external medical appointment. I suspect I will have a room there in a few more years.

Do not send anyone you care about to this facility. The staff is uncaring, lacks empathy, and is downright negligent. My mother stayed here to recover from a kidney infection. She was left in her bed for over an hour after calling for help to use the bathroom, ultimately wetting herself because no one responded. The following night, when again no one came to assist her, she attempted to get up on her own, fell, broke her hip, and cut herself badly. Her walker had been moved across the room by staff. When they finally called me, the staff remained cold and dismissive while assisting my mother. It's terrifying to think what could happen to a patient experiencing a critical event, like a heart attack, if they're left unattended in their room without assistance. The staff was always unresponsive when my mother asked for things like water which she needed for a smooth recovery from the kidney infection. Dinner was regularly served very late, 7:30-8:00 pm. Overall an awful place and it's sad to think about those being neglected there.

This is my second stay here. I have gotten better both times I was here. I look forward to going home but if I had to go back to rehab this is where I would go. Staff are nice and helpful.

They have been more than attentive & have been a great emotional support through all of this. They have a great team working on all of my health concerns to get back to my home asap.
