I had a friend who was very sick and in the late stages of his cancer. We were assigned Katie as his nurse; she was AMAZING! She gave us 110%. The gentleman had hired me to take care of his cats; not knowing he was sick at that time. When it became apparent he was sick and he told me. I didn’t realize how quickly things were going for him. One day I stopped by their office as it was on the way home from my regular job; told them of my situation. Problem solved! He was very upset with me at first. But soon enjoyed Katie coming. As did I!!!! When he was ready for me to rehome his cats; 2 of the 4 were very feral. Bless Katie; she called them ‘shy’. The look in her eyes when I handed her leather gloves to wear was priceless. Yet, She helped me get them into carriers. I know this was not in her job description; I really needed her help. And we did it without getting hurt. I often wonder if she would still call cats like that ‘shy’; now that she has seen the other side of them? She took very good care of him. He always had a drink near him and food . He never ate it tho. And she made sure he was clean and very well taken care of. When it was time for him to go to Hospice, I had to do nothing. I visited him daily, and brought his old cat to visit with him also. I adopted that one. He seemed to enjoy our visits. He passed in peace
