My elderly father needed a place to live after several falls and a devastating diagnosis of lung cancer. I had days before he was to be discharged from the hospital to find somewhere that would make him feel at home. A few years ago, a relative mentioned Atria in Cranford and how impressed he was by the outstanding amenities. Michele Grande took my frantic phone call, set up an immediate tour of the facility, found a spacious room for my dad, and even handled the mess regarding my dad’s hospital discharge (a whole other story). I was immediately introduced to the warm, caring wellness center’s supervisor and staff and the amazing cuisine director. Many places claim to have good food, but this place truly understands what a tasty and satisfying meal means to older people, especially when mealtimes are often the highlight of their day. My dad actually said he had forgotten what good food tasted like until he came to Atria. Among others, Michele and Mikerlon and James not only made my stress levels drop, they proved to me what a committed and caring support staff looks like. Let’s mention the housekeeping and care staff who clean, do laundry, dispense medicine, and who assist residents with bathing and dressing. They are amazing! I visit every day and the staff really knows their residents – joking with them, soothing them, and always checking in to make sure people are safe and comfortable. Bottom line: everything is always clean – always. Staff is warm and welcoming – always. Residents are friendly and are leading active and happy lives. Final word: my dad had picked out a different place to go if he ever was in this situation, but no room was available at the time. Within a week of living in Atria, my dad is so glad that this is the place he now calls home.
