My mom went in after being in Hackensack hospital and I really liked this facility. It is kept clean and staff was friendly. We felt like was a second home as opposed to a care center. The location is also great and has nice ambiance outside. My mom was kept clean and well fed. She also had things to do in day as they have activities for people staying there. I saw great interaction with patients and caregivers there in general and would recommend for a loved one.

As a visitor...Atlas has great parking. Easy entry way. Pleasant staff. The rooms and hallways are clean and bright. Nice floors and furniture. Made visiting my aunt with my 92 year old father effortless. Thank you

We are very grateful for the skilled, compassionate care our loved one received at Atlas at Maywood. It brought our family great peace of mind knowing he was safe, well fed, socialized & attended to during his stay. We were cared for as well by staff, nurses, therapists & caregivers - always available to talk or listen. Thank you so much for the difference you all make.

I want to express the terrible experience we have had at this place. I would never recommend it to anyone looking for care for a loved one. It is, without a doubt, the worst place we have ever encountered. Please take the time to read this entire message. It is long, but it may help you avoid making the same mistake we did by trusting this place. My father is currently there, and every time we visit him, he ends up crying, saying that he is treated in an inhumane way and that he is not receiving the care he needs. On one occasion, he spent two hours in the bathroom, dizzy and unable to stand up, and during all that time, no one came to check on him. When he asks for something as basic as water, it can take hours for someone to bring it, as if it were a burden. During our visits, we rarely see any nurses checking on him or making sure he is okay. He fell in his room and no one was there to help him. He had to struggle to get up on his own, putting himself at risk of serious injury. On another visit, we also witnessed staff treating another elderly woman very poorly. She was clearly upset, and they were even tying her to the bed as if she were an animal. I understand that elderly patients can sometimes be difficult, but is it really necessary to go to that extreme? Her family may be at home, trusting that she is being properly cared for, when in reality this is the kind of treatment she is receiving. As professionals, shouldn’t they be trained to handle people with all kinds of conditions in a humane and respectful way? That is what is expected. In addition, my father’s bed was dirty and not even properly made. He was freezing, and they only had one sheet on the bed. Despite him being very cold, no one was able to bring him another blanket or even fix his bed. The staff is supposed to be there to care for and look after the patients, but that is clearly not happening. It is unbelievable that a place like this has a 5-star rating. We trusted that he would be well taken care of, but after everything we have seen, we were forced to take him out of that place earlier than expected. Honestly, we are all extremely disappointed with this place.

Our family’s experience with Atlas Healthcare at Maywood has been unacceptable. A loved one with an advancing case of Parkinson’s was admitted after a fall, simply to be stabilized and have her medications adjusted. Instead, what we witnessed was neglect, poor conditions, and a lack of basic medical attention. Physical therapy was never prescribed. A simple urine analysis was never collected. The facility itself appears poorly maintained, with outdated and cheap patient room equipment and an obvious lack of cleanliness and upkeep. Even worse was how patients were treated. Our loved one waited nearly an hour after calling for a nurse just to be helped to the bathroom. That is not care — that is a failure to provide basic dignity. Based on our experience, serious accountability and improvements are needed. Families trust rehabilitation centers with vulnerable loved ones. Sadly, this place did not live up to even the most basic expectations.
