I recently had hip replacement surgery and needed some assistance for a short period of time. Assisting Hands was definitely the right choice. From the first phone call, it was clear they were organized and professional. They quickly laid out what their non-medical helpers could and could not do to make sure we had identical expectations. They also clearly laid out the costs for their services. Other services I called were not nearly as direct. Prior to the surgery, one of their nursing staff came by to check out my apartment to make sure there weren't any unexpected barriers to what I needed. She went over my medical history, confirming allergies, current medications, and any dietary restrictions. Contact numbers were provided in case I had any additional questions. The week prior to surgery, one of the schedulers reached out to let me know the names of the caregivers that would be staying with me and the hours they would be covering. I had the same two caregivers, Evelyn and Vida, for a period of six days. The first two days were around the clock. Evelyn was there at night and helped me get up to the bathroom, get bathed, and dressed. I quite enjoyed having her tuck me back into bed. While I was sleeping, she tidied up around the house. I woke up one morning to find she'd washed the kitchen and bathroom floors. Vida as well was extremely helpful. She checked me the first time I got in and out of the shower by myself, did my laundry, and changed the sheets on my bed. Both Evelyn and Vida made sure I ate and kept me hydrated. They encouraged me to get up and walk and accompanied me up and down the halls of my building. I am extremely pleased by the care I received from Assisting Hands and would not hesitate to contact them again for similar care. I would also recommend their services to any of my friends who might need it.
