Aspire and its management company, Vitality Living, are all about the almighty dollar and not your senior loved one. My mother's rent increased by $225 after just 8 months! The previous salesperson, Meagan, told us the rent would not be increased for the first year. This large increase was due to Vitality Living taking over management this past January. My mother had also paid a large "community fee" of $3,500 when she moved in. The term "community" suggests it's used toward amenities for the residents. Aspire fell short of my expectations in that regard. I moved my mother into another independent living facility after 16 months at Aspire. I requested a small partial refund of the community fee but was denied by Vitality Living. I even emailed the CEO and the Director of Area operations but never received any acknowledgement of my email. In my email to him I addressed issues that I was concerned about at Aspire and how I felt my mother was underserved. This is corporate greed. Don't be fooled by the professional photos, the carpet throughout the facility is dirty and stained. The residents pay for their meals in the dining room from a required food plan budget that's part of the rent. The meals in the dining room are quite expensive. Additionally, if you are out of town or in the hospital for an exended Stay and you miss having meals in the dining hall you don't get reimbursed. I know my mother took a $200 loss on that! You have to drive through a low-income trashy looking apartment complex in order to get to Aspire. Felt kind of dangerous to me. As another person stated in their review, the elevators break down and the power to the facility goes out frequently. The facility van is old and very uncomfortable. Sometimes it's out of service for days. Good luck.
********
PostScript: after several weeks, Aspire responded to my post. They referenced my complaint of the rent increase. To them I say this: how can you, in good conscience, raise someone's rent by over $200 after they've just lived there 8 months and she was promised the rent wouldn't increase until after a year!? Ridiculous and unfair. The last paragraph of your response to me as for me to reach out to Vitality Living Management so that they can help. That's BS. Didn't you see in my post that I reached out to them directly, emailing the CEO, plus the Director of Area Operations, along with the general "info@vitalityliving". I was completely ignored by them, with zero response. Apparently you don't pay attention either. You know who I am and how to reach me.

The elevators are constantly broke/down. And with having elderly people living there with walkers or canes they need to be able to get where they are going. Are the elevators not checked regularly? Places like this they need to be working properly. I understand the food is terrible. Along with the Director/Manager there has an attitude with the residents. Telling some of them do not sit in the rocking chairs out front. Because no one wants to ride by checking the place out with old people sitting out front. That is decrimination. Who pays her salary??? She needs an adjustment of an attitude. If she is that unhappy leave. Owners needs to pay more attention to their personnel.

Aspire is a hidden gem in the Richmond area. My mom has really acclimated there, has met many residents she enjoys doing things with, and the activities offered are wonderful. The management is amazing, they pitch in to help if there is a short staffing issue, they communicate with the family if there are any issues or problems and they are easy to access if I need to speak with them. The transportation available to her to go to appointments outside the facility is reliable and available if she needs it. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a clean, safe and active place for their older parents. My mom loves it there!

So pleased to have chosen Aspire at West End for my home. Love my apartment, the staff, and all the activities offered to residents. The location is perfect for near by shopping and other places to explore. As an Independent Senior Living choice, I can live my daily life as I chose in a safe secure environment.

My mother in law lives at Aspire currently. She had resided here during an earlier period. However, she elected to move to an apartment to save money. Within a year's time, she realized that the value Aspire offers is well worth the expense and moved back. Her entire family concurs with her decision.
