My experience at this facility was extremely disappointing. The food was poor quality, the building had an unpleasant odor, and the beds looked more like ambulance gurneys than proper hospital or rehabilitation beds. I arrived around 6:30 p.m. on a Friday. The hospital I had been discharged from forgot to remove my IV, which was their mistake. However, when I asked the staff at this facility to remove it, I was told no one could do so until the next day. I asked multiple times, and it was not removed until after 1:00 p.m. the following day. When I arrived on Friday, I also requested a shower. I was told that showers are only given on Fridays and Mondays, and that the staff responsible for showers had already left for the day. As a result, I had to wait until Monday. On Monday morning, I asked again for a shower and was asked whether I was “on the list.” I was never informed that I needed to be placed on a list in order to receive one. I also when I arrived, I requested a walker so I could use the bathroom, as I am unable to walk without one. I was told I could not have a walker until I was evaluated by a physical therapist on Monday. When I asked how I was supposed to get to the bathroom in the meantime, I was told I would need to wear a diaper and be changed by staff. I made it clear that this was not acceptable. Eventually, they called someone and arranged for me to have a walker. During that call, I overheard someone ask if I had been rude. The staff member responded that I was not — I simply wanted a walker. The bathroom was in the middle of two rooms and shared by up to àt least four patients. The night staff were always, sweet and kind Unfortunately, that was the only positive thing I have to say . On one occasion, I opened my meal tray and a fly flew out. The staff member said she would replace the tray, but I do not believe she did. It appeared she may have brought back the same tray. Before she took it away, I had smashed one of the sweet potatoes, and I did not feel comfortable eating the meal. I requested a banana several times and was told they would check on it, but I never received one or saw any fresh fruit available. My roommate’s daughter brought me a banana the next day. Breakfast was usually the best meal, but one morning the French toast was so hard I could not even put my fork into it. I was asked if I wanted another piece, and I said yes, but I never received it. That was on Monday. On Monday, I arranged for a transportation company to pick me up, take me to a doctor’s appointment, and then take me home. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this facility to anyone. ---
