The team includes nurses, home health aides, social workers, physical therapists, speech therapists and occupational therapists available on-call 24/7 for urgent needs.
Services include skilled nursing care with pain management and monitoring, physical therapy to build strength and balance, occupational therapy for daily living tasks, speech therapy for communication and swallowing, and wound care. Home health aides assist with personal care needs such as bathing and dressing, while medical social workers advocate for patients' needs and coordinate care with the healthcare team.
The organization offers specialized programs for patients with heart failure, COPD, diabetes, and fall risk. A registered nurse works with the patient, their doctor and the home health team to develop an individualized plan of care. The interdisciplinary approach engages patients, families and caregivers in treatment decisions, particularly important for transitions from hospital or nursing facility to home.
Care is provided in the patient's home, where recovery typically occurs faster with fewer complications. Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance plans usually cover the cost of home health care for eligible patients. Initial visits are typically scheduled within 24 hours of hospital or facility discharge, and the frequency and type of visits are adjusted based on the patient's personal plan of care.

I had an excellent experience with Karen and the entire care team. After undergoing ankle surgery on one foot and dealing with a foot fracture and ankle sprain on the other, I faced a long and challenging recovery. Karen and her team were professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive throughout the process. They helped me regain my strength, mobility, and confidence, and ultimately get back on my feet again. I always felt comfortable having them in my home, and they took the time to provide exercises and stretches that I could safely continue on my own between visits. I’m very grateful for the care, encouragement, and expertise they provided during such a difficult time. I would highly recommend Karen and her team to anyone needing physical therapy services at home. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you for helping me walk again!

I had a great experience with both Karen and Eve. Both were competent, knowledgeable, and fun to work with. I learned exercises to alleviate pain, but also tips on how to maneuver walking at my age. I highly recommend this company.

Yes. Amedisys Home Health Care is a Medicare-certified home health agency, so Medicare Part A or Part B pays in full for skilled nursing, therapy and home health aide visits when a doctor orders them and the patient is homebound. There is no copay for covered home health visits. Medicare rates the agency's quality of patient care 4.5 out of 5 stars.
For Medicare to pay, yes: a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant must certify that care is needed and sign a plan of care. Families can call the agency first, and the agency will usually contact the doctor to arrange the order. Ongoing help with bathing, meals and companionship is a different service, non-medical home care, which needs no referral.
