About Amedisys Home Health Care

Amedisys Home Health Care in Butler, Pennsylvania provides skilled nursing, therapy and other home health services to help patients recover from illness, injury or surgery, as well as manage chronic health conditions. The interdisciplinary team includes nurses, home health aides, social workers, physical therapists, speech therapists and occupational therapists, available on-call 24/7 for urgent needs.

The agency offers nursing care including pain management, monitoring and education; physical therapy to build strength, balance and endurance; occupational therapy to assist with daily tasks and home safety; speech therapy for communication and swallowing; and wound care monitoring. Medical social workers coordinate care and provide counseling and referrals to local resources. A registered nurse works with patients, their doctors and the home health team to develop an individualized plan of care.

The home health diabetes program includes skilled nursing, therapy and home health aide services. Fall prevention care addresses risk factors in the home environment, and heart failure and COPD programs focus on reducing symptoms and improving quality of life while keeping patients at home rather than in the hospital.

Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance plans typically cover home health care for eligible patients. Initial visits usually occur within 24 hours of hospital or nursing facility discharge, and the frequency and type of visits are adjusted based on the patient's personal plan of care.

I had never had home health services. On the recommendation of a neighbor I requested services from Amedisys because I had a fractured femur and couldn’t walk. I had two wonderful PT guys, Scott and Mark, who got me walking and even doing steps. My OT helped me learn how to dress myself and be independent in the kitchen. Thankfully my aid helped me take showers and wash my hair. Everyone treated me with professionalism, respect and kindness, all had a great sense of humor which really made my difficult situation, at 82, more bearable. I highly recommend this agency.

My Mother passed away June 3erd. Amedisys was her hospice health care. Heather B. was the admin nurse and she answered all our questions, explained what was going to happen, how often things were going to be taken care by them and what those things are. When she left I felt comfortable with their care. Matt was my Mom's main nurse and he was great answered my questions and my sister's questions. And Tonya was the Nurse who had the unfortunate task of declaring my mom death. She is a little corkey but in a very good way. She took care of all the tasks we asked, disposing of her meds ect. She made it easier that's for sure. Use them, you won't regret it.

I had the best experience with this great company. First started when Denise came in my hospital room to introduce herself and explain about the great company that would care for me. The next was the excellent nurses that came to my home to start my therapy. The first therapist ( im sorry, I don't remember his name) he did my first measurements and was sho ked at how will I was doing. I adored my main pt. She was fantastic. Her name was Kristen. You can tell she likes her job. Just for the way she cared for me. Ot John taught me the best ans safest way to do my daily activities around my house. Jeff came to release me. Such a kind and caring man. Im very sorry that my therapy is over and I must move on. I really don't believe I would be this far along if I didn't have the great care team I had. Thank you so much

My team consisted of Supervising Nurse Kelli, Weekly Nurse Jason, Speech Therapist Mary-Katherine, and Physical Therapists Scott and Steve. I do not have the words to describe how fantastic they all were - from making me feel instantly comfortable, to the professionalism of Kelli and Jason's wound dressing, the patience of Mary-Katherine's memory training, and the exercises from Scott and Steve for my balance and ability to get up and down the stairs, along with light weight training. I feel they put me back together again, and as happy as I am to be back to myself, I am going to miss all of them greatly. They started to feel like family. I cannot recommend these five professionals enough. If I ever need help again, I would want this team. Best, and thank you all, Kelly Mahan Jaramillo
