I have been at Alta Vita Independent Living for about 6 months after a short stay in Assisted Living. Both places are well run, welcoming, and caring. In Independent Living, I was welcomed by an Ambassador who helped me find my way and introduced me to new friends. There are many activities—cards, games, a book club, and a well outfitted gym. Residents routinely wear name tags, which helps a newbie. A new resident entering the dining room can anticipate someone glancing over, smiling, and an invitation to join a table. The food is excellent, generous, and the wait staff is well trained. Every holiday, however small, is celebrated with enthusiasm. A lot of residents drive, and garages or carports are available. There’s a park and lots of shopping within walking distance.<br><br>I wasn’t sure communal living was right for me, as I am very active. But now that I’m here, it’s definitely home. Better to come sooner rather than later.
